I'm in the running to make the playoff's in Baseball in all 3 of my leagues...that would be fun but I have to win this week first.

Sadly for me there will be NO Hockey (NHL) this year....Yell....I hate Gary Bettman.

GO TITANS GO.......real happy to see the NFL back and WOW there were some HUGE Upsets yesterday.

Take Care and I hope all is well.........I heard a rumour that CBS is thinking about bringing back Fantasy Golf ???

Good to see you Larry! And great news about your baseball fantasy. Not sure if my team is in or not - depends on if CBS counts overall wins or points out of first as determining criteria. I'm second in my div & second in points out of first, but there's two in the other division with more wins (not including the div leader). Looks like it's wait & see LOL!

It'd be great if CBS brings back fantasy golf, but I haven't heard that rumor yet. They lose a lot of folks every year to Yahoo because of that lame decision a couple years back to dump it.

Don't be a stranger!

Good luck this week, R.P.  Your Black Sox shouldn't have any trouble beating my Strike Outs.  And honestly, I don't deserve to win, I haven't watched a single inning of baseball this year.  I just used the ww to grab the latest player on a hot streak.

As far as my pay fantasy football teams go, I will finsh the week 0-3 on one and 1-2 on the other two.  I would be 3-0 on the first one I hadn't messed with my defense.  I dropped the Bears for the Bills the first week, and then dropped the Bills after their horrible showing.  I would have won all 3 games with the Bears on my roster.

The other two teams are fairly strong but went against teams that had huge weeks the first two weeks.  Tough start but hopefully I can turn it around and make the playoffs on at least one of them.

Good luck everyone with your leagues.  I am sure with all the injuries, especially to RBs, that there are a lot of hard luck stories out there.

I never do well in any half-half leagues because it offers few good players in the free agency.  I think I'm good at reading, calculating and picking players and it works only if there are more decent players in the free agency.  I'm in the same boat, Jimbo, because I haven't watched a single inning either.  don't have cable.  when watching, I either rent a redbox movie or buy some movies on sale.  I'm not much of a movie collector, but when I see a good movie on sale, I buy it.

Do you have the high speed internet and a wireless router?  I love my Roku box and my subscription to Netflix.  The Roku is about $60 for the cheapest one and it gets a lot of free channels.  Netflix is only $8 a month and has tons of stuff, with the best being whole seasons of lots of recent TV shows.  There's tens of thousands of bad movies and a few hundred good ones, but you can usually find something to watch there too.

I also buy a lot of movies, if they are stuff I know I will watch multiple times, and have well over a hundred DVD's and Blurays, but since getting Netflix, I don't buy nearly as many.  However, the Avengers is out today and that is definitely a one I will get.  I love superhero stuff and that was a great one.

Again, good luck and check out the Roku if you have fast internet.

Jimbo,

Yes I have both high speed internet and a wireless router.  Lately I've been thinking about getting Netflix.  For Netflix, do you have to mail movies or something?

If you have a Blu Ray player, smart TV or Roku box, you can stream Netflix to your television.  On a couple TVs, I have a Sony Blu Ray that receives Netflix wirelessly and on one, I have a Roku box.

The Roku gets a lot more "channels" than a blu ray or smart TV.  Google it and check out their website.  Netflix is $8 a month for the streaming service and there's thousands of movies and TV shows available.  Most of the movies are older or low budget stuff, but the TV shows are great because you can watch an entire series from season 1 on.

Besides Netflix, Roku gets Crackle, HBO Go, Vudu, Amazon Prime, and a bunch of free channels that have tons of free TV shows and movies.  Many of them, you don't need an account, but some, like Crackle, you have to sign up for free online and then link the account to your Roku.

The Roku can be had for $50 to $100 depending on which model you get and then after that it's free, unless you sign up for a pay service like Netflix.  If you are an Amazon Prime member ($79 a year I think) there are thousands of movies and TV shows there also.  Netflix is better, but Amazon is slightly cheaper and it includes free shipping on many Amazon orders.

I know, I sound like a commercial, but I am going to have to drop my cable subscription and the Roku and Netflix will help replace it a fair amount.  Check out the details online for the Roku and Netflix.  I run my Roku boxed wired directly to the router, but it runs wirelessly about as well.

Jimbo,

Thanks for the additional information.  I'm very interested in getting Netflix and Roku box (since I don't have cable tv.)  I'm tired of going to redbox at midnight just to get the latest movies when it come out (hate to wait a couple days more).  This will help give me extra hours of sleep every now and then:)  Before I get Roku box, I will have a look at Blu Ray player to because I've been thinking about getting one.  My brother has a collection of over 1k Blu Ray movies that I can borrow.  Did you hear about the HVD (Holographic Versatile Disc) that will come out in 4-5 years?  I'm told that its resolution is 5x that of Blue Ray's.  I think it will feature in 4D and you can see stuff coming out of the screen.  Wealthy people already have these stuff.  Holographic TV and Ultra HDTV will be available on the market in 2020.

I promise you won't be disappointed in the Roku.  It has a lot more to offer than just a Blu Ray player, since there are more channels.  But, having said that, if you are mostly only going to use Netflix and don't care about some of the other stuff on the Roku, then the blu ray will be fine.

I have two Sony Blu Ray players and am very happy with them.  I think the model number is S390 and it has wireless built in, you just need to add an HDMI cable.  The S590 is the same model but has 3D and is only a few bucks more, maybe $120 for it and about $100 for the S390 on sale.

There's a few things available on the blu ray besides Netflix, such as Crackle and Pandora radio and a few other channels. The Roku has hundreds of channels and there are dozens more "private channels", which sounds like it's adult stuff, but it's not.  Or at least most of it isn't.  They are channels that can be added by going to the Roku website, but are not available in the Roku channel store which is on the television menu.

For $8 a month, you will find hundreds of things you want to watch on Netflix.  The other option is Hulu Plus, which is also $8 a month, and it also has movies and TV shows like Netflix but it has current TV shows, where Netflix only has up to last years TV stuff.  Between the two, for $16 a month, you really don't need cable, especially if you have some kind of cheap antenna for local stuff.

Good luck with it.  Here's the Roku website
