Mention of Jack Nitzsche and Danny Whitten reminds me of a very sad and prophetic story about Gram Parsons.


One night, a few months ofter Danny Whitten died from a heroin overdose, Nitzche and Neil Young were tooling around L. A. in a Limo and came upon Gram walking around in an intoxicated state.  They offered him a ride and during the ride, Gram noticed that Jack was studying his face very intently.  When asked why, Nitsche replied, "Boy, you look like Danny  . . . and Danny's dead."


Six months later, Gram was dead of a heroin overdose.  

That song is also known as "Hey Gyp," written by Donovan but covered by the Animals

This song describes the descent into heroin addiction of musicians he knew. It was written about the heroin use of his guitarist Danny Whitten.
