POSSIBLY THE MVP. Ya think?CONGRATULATIONS! Yup -- Miguel Cabrera (the former Carolina Mudcats player, [Class AA Carolina League] in 2003 .365, 59 RBI,10 HRs in 303 Plate Appearances) was officially informed this Wednesday by Detroit Tiggers manager, Jim "Sparky" Leyland that the Star had secured the first MLB Triple Crown since Boston Red Sox player, Carl Yastrzemski won it in 1967. <source abez2> . |

I think ya might have to give to Miggy as the best hitter in baseball since 2009. For 2009-2012 he's hit .331 and averaged 36HR/ 118RBI/ 42 2b/ 195H/ 347 TB/ SLG .589/ OPS 1.003.
Not too shabby. Just think.. if he had speed of The Mick or Say Hey ... he'd probably have 40 to 50 more leg hits!

Just think.. if he had speed of The Mick or Say Hey ... he'd probably have 40 to 50 more leg hits!True. He'd alikely spent alotta time in that coveted "30-30 club", too. Though he received much attention while with the championship Miami Marlins...maybe this'll bring him his do accolades.. . Baseball's Triple Crown is very rarely acheived... .indeed! abstolenbasez2. |

Merc what do u think of the LDS format this year? FIRST 2 games at the lower seed's place then the last game(s) at the higher seed's place.
Stupid, I say. |

I hate it Muds, not too fond of the 5 game second series, you play 162 games and granted WC didn't ein their divisions, but one game, come on...
now to second round 3 of 5 still too short...know MLB wonèt cut back on the 162 game season, but if they insist on these extra rounds , WC should be three games , second round 7, and heck would like to see the World series back to a best of 9....Spring training is too long, curtail that and enough time for the prolonged post season IMHO... |

I think LDS at 5 is OK. But DO NOT give the 1st 2 home games to the LOWER seed. Are you kidding?
If a team has the HFA, then it should NOT BE POSSIBLE for them to trail in a series if they win all their home games. Giving the home games to the lower seed to START a series.... dumb. 2-2-1 format for the 5-game and 2-2-1-1-1 for the 7-game series. I think .. yeah, POSSIBLY cut back # of spring games, but if not ... and they insist on 5 teams from each league, ya gotta make the WC series 2-of-3. And cut back a bit from 162. Or .. if no cutback, then they gotta get a bit more old skool and schedule a few more doubleheaders. Do we need baseball until Thanksgiving(U.S.)? Nope. Personally, I'd rather see it back to just 1 WC team from each league. |

Well aside from it being Thanksgiving weekend here in Canada ;-), agree 100 % 1 WC per league is the best fix if they insist on three divisions per league...maybe the marketing men are thinking of more expansion and laying this out for us...they were talking retraction , but that's like saying the Rothschild's were getting out of the gold market
