Re: the Lebron coming to the Lakers being a "distinct possibility" argument.

The facts are that the Lakers have contracts set up nicely so that they can potentially have alot of cap space available to sign at least one and possibly 2 star players.

What this means is that the Lakers can re-sign Howard after this season for more money and more years than anyone else. If Howard wants to walk away from that kind of money, on a team that has shown over and over that they will do whatever is necessary to contend for a title, then he will prove to have either the dumbest agent in the history of sports or he will show that it isn't about championships for him. Assuming he chooses to stay in L.A., he will be an attractive player for other stars to come to the Lakers and team with.

As for 2014. With the cap space that the Lakers will likely have and the willingness to spend money that they have always shown, it is a "distinct possibility" that they will land at least 1 and maybe 2 top players. That includes Lebron, Kevin Love (in fact, I've heard some folks state that Love coming to the Lakers is almost a certainty. I don't know what info. they think they have, but I've heard it more than once) or any others that may be available at that time.

So in a word, yes, Lebron coming to the Lakers is a "distinct possiblity" because it is more than a "distinct possibility" that the Lakers will land a star player or 2. Additionally, no matter how happy a player says that they are in their situation, if the Lakers come calling, any star player will give them a good, long look simply because of the Lakers history of paying players well and contending for championships.

Even if Howard chooses to leave after this season, the Lakers will get through the following season and then have even more money available to bring in more top level players.

Or it will show that he is one of the dumbest people on the planet, which is a distinct possibility based on his past actions.

With this dope, who knows? He walked away from a max contract in Orlando. All I'm saying is that nothing would surprise me with this clown. He has said a LOT of things that were basically worthless the second they came out of his mouth, so I wouldn't use quotes from him to try to predict the future.

He would obviously have to be an idiot to leave the Lakers, but if he has shown anything in the last 12+ months, it's that he is an idiot.

Yeah, but you're avoiding the question - Brooklyn can't sign him...so where else would he possibly go???

ATL have a lot of cap space and he is from Atlanta. I expect Atlanta to make a huge run at him and Paul in the offseason.

From Hoopsworld:

The Hawks are set up to be massive cap players in July. They will have to work out the contract situations with Jeff Teague and Josh Smith, but beyond those two almost everyone else is expendable, giving the Hawks what could be as much as $30 million to spend depending on how they manage their rookie scale contracts and pending free agents. New Hawks GM Danny Ferry has been preaching that his moves this summer were about positioning for July of 2013, so it is safe to say the Hawks plan to be aggressive and they should have ample money to pull it off.

I didn't avoid the question, I just have no interest in doing some type of detailed analysis into the possible landing spots of Dwight Howard. For all I know he could sign a max deal with the New Orleans Hornets. I don't know. That's the point, with this dope you can't be too sure WHERE his brain is or what it is he wants to do.

and yet you seem particularly interested in labeling Howard a "dope", "clown", "idiot" and "one of the dumbest people on the planet" in consecutive postings within the last 24 hrs...seems a little beneath you twocoach, not quite your style.  Is everything OK?

It doesn't take much reseasrch to come to that conclusion. Did you watch ESPN last year? Every time Howard opened his mouth, he provided ample research material. Watch any interview with him now. he is trying so hard to be the certain persona his handlers have told him he needs to be. It's like watching Angelina Jolie in the Billy Bob Thornton days. Nothing genuine about it whatsoever. The "man" is still mentally 15 years old.

"The whole year a lot of people were making up a lot of stories about 'this deal is getting close, that deal is getting close to being done,' or whatever, but none of those deals were ever close," Howard said.

"I thought I was going to get traded at the beginning of the year, actually, that's when I asked for it. But everything happened for a reason. I had to go through last year to get to where I'm at today. It's made me a stronger and better person for it. I had to go through the hell and the stormy forecast to come out to a place like this ... and I'm thankful for it."

Let's all have a pity party for poor Dwight because of the pure, sheer hell he had to go through, which was brought on by none other than himself.

1...2...3....AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW.  We all feel so bad for you Dwight.

Without getting into the fact that at least as much of the blame falls on Orlando as it does on Dwight for the whole "Dwightmare" thing. You would think that some of these guys would learn that the smartest thing they can do is just shut the hell up. There is really nothing that a player in this situation can say that will help their cause.

Dwight just needs to be quiet, win basketball games and let time pass. The only reason that the criticism for "The Decision" went as long as it did before starting to die down was because Lebron just wouldn't shut up and every time he tried to defend it, it made him look worse. When he finally quit trying to defend it and just concentrated on basketball, people started moving on from it.

you have to wonder sometimes who gives these guys advice.   i get a sheltered egotistical NBA star from not really understanding why people could possibly be mad at them...   but isnt that why they have agents and pr people?

shut up and play.   something lebron should have done about a year earlier... and something dwight should learn from.

Well said. People can say what they want about Kobe and the Colorado situation, but people moved on fairly quickly because Kobe had the press conference about it with his wife there and then he just kept his mouth shut about it.

Hwoard suffers from the same problem that Shaq does. He thinks that because his hired posse of idiots laughs at his stupid jokes and thinks he's smart that everyone thinks he's funny and smart.
