Wizards Season 2012-13

Shake: You are spot on. Other than John Wall & Nene, who are both hurt, we don't have much in the way of starting material. Both Trevor Ariza and Okafor have been starters during their career, but they are not wowing anybody at the moment. Beal should grow into a nice starter. Kevin Seraphin is a maybe. So Long term our most promising guys that could grow into starters are:
PG: Wall
SG: Beal
SF: None
PF: None
C: Seraphin?
Booker and Singleton are nice rotation guys, but not starters (as their draft position would suggest). Crawford is a classic scorer off the bench (but painful to watch). Vesely is looking like a bust. He gives you some energy and hustle plays, but you expect more out of a #6 guy.
Our rebuilding efforts have been hurt by 2 big whiffs with high draft picks
1. Dealing our #5 pick a few years back to Minnesota for the Rental of Foye & Miller (we were not yet in rebuild mode)
2. Drafting Jan Vesely #6 overall (instead of Kawai Leonard)
Despite Ted's quote about the lottery being unacceptable, it is looking pretty likely at this point. We could use a SF who can score the ball. Is it too early to start scouring the mock drafts?

Well.......we said it was important for us to get off to a good start. So far it looks like "same as it ever was." But it's still early fellas, don't pack it in just yet. Leave that for Mike ("I'd appreciate an email or tweet before you quote me word for word") Shanahan.

Let's Go WizKids!! Cool

Close .... Hope we don't get too far in a hole ... some encouraging things  . nice to see beal get the minutes and crawford to be limited .... what happened to okafor last night?? ....AND Seriphin's play has been nice, the guy just seems to get better by the minute.  Real excited about him, Okafor, and Nene filling in the 4-5 spots for us eventually.

Letting the days go by!

The game last night was...boring. The Celtics were practically toying  with us. Seraphin is okay right now, but situations still leave me scratching my head.

Initially I was going to comment about Beal and his passion for winning, but there's the big news from the West Coast that preempts that little spurt from the Phone Booth. I think we all knew that Brown's time in LA was borrowed. It wasn't a question of "if", it was "when". Truth be told, I thought he was going to walk the plank during the off-season. Now that the inevitable has happened, we now tun our attention to all things pertaining to Wiz Biz.

Here's a news flash for ya: There's no way in the world that the Lakers will  turn over the reins to D'Antoni with Uncle Phil indicating a willingness to return to the bench. Once Phil signs his contract (AND HE WILL SIGN THAT CONTRACT!), should the Wizards make that call to gauge D'Antoni's interest in manning this helm? I didn't say they should pull the rug out on Coach Witt........yet. But should they check to see if D'Antoni likes Chinese food as well as a spicy meatball every once in awhile?

Undecided

Boy...my enthusiasm has been deflated...and I fear the worst tomorrow. Until John Wall and Nene return...my effort to watch the away games are going to be pretty minimal.

The more we see of Price dominating every thing going on, the worse it may get.  Seems as if he wants to be the #1 option .... for everything.   Not the answer.

Terrible news about Nene...I guess we knew what we were getting when we traded for him, you know? They must not eat the crust of their bread or drink their milk down in Brazil. Plus, you have to have a certain kind of immunity to DC's water, which most of our stars never do in Washington.

Amen brother. Price seems to be competing with Jordan Crawford for the most difficult Wizard to watch.
Boy it will be good to get John Wall back.

Wizards Season 2012-13

November 15, 2012 9:44 am
Sorry folks, I've been out of town. However I've been monitoring the Wiz' situation while working in Cali......and its not looking so good. The D'Antoni thing was a real shocker, especially to the good people in LA. I can't, for the life of me, understand how the Lakers could botch the Phil Jackson signing. The only thing that I can surmise is that Jerry Buss had absolutely NO intention of signing Jackson in the first place. He dangled Phil out there to the delight of many fans who envisioned the Lakers bringing back the man who is arguably one of the greatest, if not THE greatest NBA coach of all time, and then humiliated him by saying thanks but no thanks. Even D'Antoni was caught by surprise! According to news reports, he was told by someone else other than the team that he was being selected as the new head coach. If he was truly being courted and the front runner as the Lakers would have us believe, wouldn't he have been the FIRST person told? The answer would be an unequivocal "yes".

You know what? I have the perfect solution and subsequent reaction for Phil Jackson. He should show them them up and coach the Wizards to prominence. You say: "KK2, what about present Head Coach Randy Wittman?"

And I say:

"NEXT"!

Here's the thing...Phil Jackson can't coach a bad team with no talent. And a NON MOTIVATED Phil Jackson can't even coach a talented team.

KK2...are you Dan Snyder?

"KK2...are you Dan Snyder?"

Nope, I'm not short nor do I have a Napoleonic complex......Unfortunately I don't have his millions either....yet.

But I agree, it would be a tough sell for Phil to come to DC for a travel layover, much less a coaching gig. We are, however, at that point in the season where we start to wonder how long does Leonsis allow this to continue. If they play like they have recently, we won't have to wonder long. Leonsis isn't making any money off of hockey and he sure isn't packing the rafters with Wiz fans with the product that's been taking the court. So....you best believe that you will see a highly motivated team taking on the Jazz on Saturday.

If not, changes will be made VERY, VERY........WAAAAARY soon. And that's what's up, Doc!

it would be a shame to let randy go after just getting the perm job .... esp with all the injuries, .... but man this start!

I wouldn't have minded seeing what flip could have done(did  always like flip) when the knuckleheads left town .... but i'll pull away from that now ... its done.

Phil will never happen, I know no one here seriously meant to say it would .... but imagine if he did and won???  cemented then as the greatest coach of all time in any sport then if it did

The D'Antoni hiring sure surprised a lot of people, me included. Looks like Uncle Phil is still available for the Wizards job!
