NON-  This is the classic, I know a guy that knows a guy but............ I live just 20 minutes from richmond and I do have a friend that knows the "Green Camp"  he is saying that is is essentially down to two teams, us and Auburn.  The attraction to Auburn still depends on who they hire as Head Coach but we are in it.

Yes Derrick Green. Twitter post from recruiting lady at scout.com

Here is another

Just wanted to drop by that UM OL commit Kyle Bosch is scheduled to have an in home visit tonight with Coach Hecklinski.

He is still enrolling early, and will take his official visit next week.

Bosch, 5-star o-lineman getting into school early and looking to contribute. More beasts up front for UofM.

Green mentioned several times already that his parents really loved the Auburn visits... but their season was a disaster so it's tough to tell what will happen.  I think we have a decent shot, but not more than that.

We're back to recruiting Dawson now, I think that is a mistake because now no one will respect the policy...

That was my initial reaction too. I think a couple of things come into play. Does Hoke really want to risk the Cass Tech pipeline if the kid really wants back in the fold? Also, Dawson seems an emotional mess so that has to come into play. Hoke needs to weigh the effect it could have on current commis and only he is in a position to do that.

The risk for recruits with the policy is that Michigan will fill your spot with another player. In this instance, I believe there are 3 big factors : 1. Dawson has been dealing with the loss of a family member, 2. they have not filled his spot with another lineman, 3. the Cass Tech pipeline is the best that Michigan has.

that's the other thing with him, I understand that he is a difficult place emotionally, but this guy has been flipping and flopping like a fish out of water... I rather not take a head case in this class, especially since Cameron Hunt is showing serious interest and got offered recently.  Something weird is happening in LB recruiting too, we're starting to offer dudes committed to other schools, while recruiting for that position was supposed to be wrapped up a while ago... so something is up on that front.

Wilcher made it sound like that something bad went down when Dawson decommitted

It did.  DD decommitted from his (Wilcher's) alma mater.  He was pissed because he knew all along that deep down, DD wanted to remain blue.

I rather not take a head case in this class

I agree and to an extent, this I why I believe the "policy" is in place.  It is a solid gauge as to how serious an athletes commitment is to the university.  No one's saying don't take your visits.  What they are saying is don't commit unless you are truly committed.

I can tell you this.  Dawson is from a Michigan pipeline that has gone through some rough personal issues.  An offer has be re-extended to the young man and he'll be visiting Michigan in a couple of weeks but the staff will continue to explore all of their options in recruiting.  He has also been asked not to commit after his official visit to give himself and the staff amply time to process his visit.

while recruiting for that position was supposed to be wrapped up a while ago... so something is up on that front.

I wouldn't look too much into the LB recruiting offer.  The kid from BR is best friends with Shane but he's a solid Spartan legacy.  When they offered him, they talked about a number of positions he could potentially play (FB, H-Back, LB).  More than anything, I think it was a not so subtle reminder to Sparty that the state of Michigan is theirs and no athlete is off limits.  GO BLUE!!

Didnt they just offer another 2013 LB as well? Moss? The more I see these recent LB offers I think there will be some attrition from that spot whether its injury or transfer, just my initial reaction.

They offered Jamieon Moss who is a LB commit with Virginia Tech...  apparently both Gedeon and McCray are solid with Michigan so I have no clue what is going on, maybe a current roster player may be transferring or something...

Jake Ryan to the league after next year could be another scenario in which the staff feels they need to solidify their depth at LB.  They have also been looking at RJS at rush end.  GO BLUE!!

One of the drawbacks of the early verbals is so much goes on and changes throughout the coarse of a season!

Will FSU still be an ACC school this time next year?

Auburn looked solid starting the season. Now they need a coach!

USC was odds on favorite for the BCS title game, now a fair to decent team. That maybe looking for a coach.

Does Chip Kelly go pro?

Maryland and Rutgers.

So if a kid bails well that what most 17-18 year old guys do.

As for Dawson's mental state......let the kid deal with what he needs to. If UofM is still a match great lets not cut off out nose to spite our face here.

I think the death of Dawson father made the coaches take another chance with this kid.

I saw ohio offered Denzel Ward....My new favorite recruit quickly posted on his twitter.

@Diezel75_ and I are future teammates, period. #PioneersOfTeam135

Very strong statement from one of ohios best defensive high school recruits. LOL!

they retained the RB coach but they probably will be moving to a spread offense that won't suit Green very well... but deep down inside I think he really wants to go to Auburn, so it could be a Brionte Dunn part 2 situation...  another school to watch is possibly Arkansas, if he wants to stay in the south, Bielema's offense is a perfect fit.

Yea, so Conley commited to OSU. Just wonderful.

Say what you want, it's never a good thing to see a highly rated prospect leave and commit to OSU like this. Michigan has too many high rated prospects leaving. It doesn't look good, since other recruits notice. Getting high caliber players helps bring other high caliber players in.

Conley was never sold on Michigan, but he happened to commit because Michigan was his only major offer and the class was filling fast.  The second he started getting other major offers he was looking around.  He wanted to visit Cincy but backed off because Michigan coaches told him they would pull his offer.  Word is he would have committed to Oregon on the spot had he received the offer.  Now he visited Ohio St and decided to commit to a coach that won 2 NCs and dominated the Big 10 in his inaugural year.  In fact he decommitted from Michigan just so he could take other visits, so obviously Michigan was not in his final plans, it just happened to be the first major school that wanted him.  Damario Jones already took his spot in this class, and this kid actually wants to play for Michigan.  There is no reason to panic.

I think that is a mistake because now no one will respect the policy...

The policy honors a kids roster spot as long as the athlete honors his verbal commitment.  Once Dawson started looking, so did the staff but the policy doesn't necessarily close the door on the prospect.

Michigan stayed in contact with Pharoah Brown last year as well.   They just continued to recruit the position he was slated to play.

"The Policy" has started to become something of legend, as if written in stone and bolted to the wall of Schembechler Hall but simply put, the staff will honor your roster spot if you are truly committed to Michigan.  But if you look, they'll look too.  GO BLUE!!

Sometimes the best answer is to just do nothing! And in a way I think thats what Hoke and company did with Dawson. Bid him good luck and told him to stay in touch.

Dawson is still a big time player and if he reached out because he has rethunk his options great the spot is still open....maybe! We have no idea if their are any silent commits or if Hoke has swayed some other guy like Norfleet was last year. Dawson is still better playing for UofM and having flexibility than letting him go to MSU, Iowa, OSU and being rigid with your recruiting ideas.
