The ACC Thread...................................December 2, 2012 10:54 pm
Been reading up on here and I must say; I'm worried about the ACC staying together in it's current capacity. Let's be honest, the attempt to become an elite football conference has failed. We're a good, solid football conference (don't care what anyone says), but obviously not elite.
I've heard rumars about the SEC flirting with UNC and not to toot my own horn as a Heels fan, that would kill the conference. Cause if UNC left (likely taking State with them) then Fla St and Clemson would definately look to bolt (Big 12). Or, Fla St and Clemson bolt for the Big 12 and then UNC looks to bail.

I know some Orange fans down here in Hotlanta and they are excited, as well they should be. The Orange Bowl is within Syracuse's grasp every season - now. Don't let the rumors bother you. Maryland is no big loss, Louisville has better athletic programs anyway so we made good on that deal. No biggie. FSU and Clemson aren't going anywhere. The SEC doesn't want them and the Big 12 can't afford their exit fees - so don't fret it. The reason why they stayed is because the ACC agreed to help FSU with its financial woes and Clemson didn't want to go without them. I doubt strongly that UNC and Duke are going anywhere - they run the ACC and they will be very reluctant to give up that power - and, as mentioned before, the ACC is doing great financially, which is why Syracuse decided to accept the invite. Once you throw in our BB revenues, the ACC does not trail the B1G and SEC by all that much. And we always have the potential to end up better off than they are. And Syracuse will help a lot in that regard. GT might be going to the B1G and if they are, they are no big loss, either. Most of the CFB fanbase in the Atlanta area support Georgia and the other SEC schools. GT does not bring the entire metro-Atlanta market and that is why the B1G passed on them when they took Md and Rutgers. As I have stated before, UConn and Cinci are itching to desert the BE and are good replacements for anybody we might lose. So don't worry about it. Stay strong. The ACC is a thriving multi-millionaire of a conference and will continue to be for many, many years to come. There is no need for you to worry at all. |
