Wizards Season 2012-13

December 4, 2012 11:52 pm
Relax fellas, don't get carried away with this victory. The Heat let their guard down and got sucker punched, plain and simple. Want to see if we're on to something? Our next three games are against the Hawks on Friday, the Wariors on Saturday, and the Hornets next Tuesday.

Anyone want to hazard a guess as to how many we'll win? If we win out or even win two out of three, maybe we're on a marginal roll, "Gangnam Style." So while I don't think so, I'll put up a good front and say that we have the capability of winning against the Warriors & Hornets. I know that anything is possible....(look at my avatar - I'm telling you I KNOW anything is possible!)...but is there anyone out there that honestly believes that the WizKids will take ALL THREE GAMES? Sentiment aside.........

Any takers?

I didn't think old Tom was taking controlled substances, but I'm not so sure now. The Pelicans? The New Orleans Pelicans? OMG, somebody please conduct an intervention. He's not well!!

Tom it's not to late.....Make it the New Orleans Brass (in tribute to the music) or keep Hornets, but for goodness sake don't make your mascot a PELICAN!!

December 5, 2012 11:04 pm
Okay fellas, I put Dauber down for two. Since this is primarily a forum of four with an occasional cameo from Big 'Dawg, I'm waiting to hear from you other guys. What's it gonna be Shake & Frank? Wizards will win:

1) one
2) two
3) all three!
4) a big, fat egg

Vote early and vote often!!

You know, I used to get PO'd that there were only 4 Musketeers, with a 5th showing up when he was sober or not surfing porn (jjkng). But then I went to the Hornets' webpage to post a log on the switch of mascot names from "Hornets" to "Pelicans". After my visit, I'm feeling pretty good.

I'm not going to tell you what it looks like, I want you to check it out for yourselves. And while you're at it, show some love and support.....

They could REALLY use it.

Okay 'Dawg, we're waiting to hear from you and Frank. So far I've gotten a conditional statement from Shake and a solid two games from Dauber. I wish I could be optimistic, but I don't see it in the cards. My gut says one, at best.

Prove me wrong, WizKids....PLEASE

Well ... there goes that.     Play Beal more, Crawfird less!   And I'm a Livingston guy but, 3 fouls in 3 minutes? ... come on ... just gives us more price, which is not a good thing.

More seriously though, and a team concern, we simply can't continue to be out rebounded at the rate that we are.  Giving us no chance.

Dauber, right on the money on all counts. Its rare that I don't finish out a contest, but I became so frustrated that I turned to a Div II championship on ESPN2 that was never close. A better mechanic would get more out of this car....

Oh well; one down (literally), two more to go.

Wizards Season 2012-13

December 9, 2012 12:46 am
I'll say it again. It's not the personnel. Other coaches have done a lot more with less. Look at the standings. Its there for all eyes to see. Does Uncle Ern play a part in this? Sure, but I don't lay this charge at his feet.

Bear with me for a moment; when the Colts were teasing their fans with a potential dynasty, they never thought about the possibility of Peyton Manning having a serious injury that would keep him out for a prolonged period of time. They brought in a number of clipboard holders who never saw the light of day and were content to bolster the offense while neglecting the defense. They did this for years upon years. Even after Coach Dungy left the team his hand picked successor, Jim Caldwell, guided the team to two successful seasons making us think that Caldwell was more than a "yes" man, but actually had a good grasp of managing the team. It wasn't until Manning went down and out that we realized that Peyton covered up a lot of sins and Caldwell was woefully inefficient.

There are many similarities here. Wall, by no means, is on par with a Peyton Manning. However he does illustrate a point. When Wall is healthy his penetration allows for a lot of easy baskets. When he is not available, his absence is felt on the court tremendously. More importantly, it also shows the need for a good head coach. As decent a guy as Randy Wittman is, his forte is not head coaching. Assistant coaching? possibly. But as head coach he leaves much to be desired.

Look at the "Lake Show". While nothing is being said in the locker room at present, don't you think there are quite a few that secretly wish that Mike D'Antoni had been the one that had been rooked rather than Phil Jackson? Now, what are the odds that Jackson can be convinced that all is forgiven? Pretty much slim and none; he'll never to return to the team. His ego won't allow it unless he's awarded a share of team ownership...And I'm not talking 10%. That's the difference between a great coach and a mediocre one. D'Antoni had the good fortune of having a healthy Steve Nash at the helm. Guess what? Steve Nash is injured and D'Antoni's warts are showing.

Good coaches are hard to come by. It takes a keen eye to spot one. A good coach can make a spotty team competitive. Once again, I ask you to look at the standings. Look at the marginal teams with winning records or those hovering around .500. There's some good coaching going on around the league, but none of it has been located near the Phone Booth......

Bring aboard a decent coach and watch this team turn its fortunes around with the existing personnel they have. Nothing else need be changed except the guy standing on the sideline with the scowl on his face. His time has come and gone.

Oh...and by the way, two down; one more to go! Yell

Daub, looks like your thoroughbred comes through down the back stretch and pulls away at the last minute. By the way, did'ya know that our Uncle Ern vetoed a trade for the man we'll play tomorrow?

I'm not sure if the report is true but it does make sense that Leonsis couldn't afford him. Of course, the reason why he was unaffordable is because we traded for Ariza and Okafor. Without those two (and not counting the amnestied Blatche), we'd be at 37.8 million next year and have plenty of money to sign Harden long term.

But hey, Harden or Ariza and Okafor. Who wouldn't prefer Ariza and Okafor? Aside from everyone of course.

'Dawg, I don't have a problem with Okafor and only a quibble with Ariza. I do have a problem with re-signing Blatche to such a huge deal in the first place, then having to having to watch him play well (on our dime, no less) with better coaching. If there's anything that I think Uncle Ern should be held accountable for is sticking with Wittman well past his shelf life.

He's starting to reek and grow mildew.

The Blatche deal was pretty bad. It didn't take a genius to know that deal was an awful one. At least the Arenas deal had a shot at working out. They couldn't have known he was done... oh right they could. We were the ones who couldn't see the medical records.
You don't have a problem with Okafor. Because the Wiz have him and Ariza, they won't be able to get anyone aside from minimum players until 2015 when their contracts expire. Think that Okafor, Nene and Ariza can lead a team to the playoffs? If they can't then you've got a problem with them.

Frankly, that's why I don't think it takes any skill to be a GM. You really think that anyone on this board couldn't do better than Ernie? Really? I mean, really? C'mon. Ernie wouldn't know talent if it smacked him in the nose.

Wizards Season 2012-13

December 12, 2012 10:29 pm
correct dawg ... i admit i had better hopes for this squad ... maybe a low playoff seed 7 or 8.  And i saw a team much better defensively.   and by building this, our $$ is very limited next off-season.  As I've stated, if this goes wrong as it has, ernie has used his last bullet in the gun IMO ... see how i worked bullet in there?

Tonight we lost, kept it close and battled on the road .... see how we can compete when we rebound?? even in rebounds tonight .
Want more rebounds?? More minutes for seriphin and Nene!!!!  Seriously, why is Nene only playing what he is.  He still is a top 10 center IMO.  Unless the minutes are being limited due to coming back from the injuty and i haven't heard anything about that.

I haven't heard any one of you mention Wittman.....and I'm telling you that's where the problem lies. Granted, this squad leaves much to be desired, but it could be SOooooooooo much better with a more capable field general.

Okay here's an analogy... a p1$$-poor one but an analogy nevertheless. Imagine a chase scene in a movie in which the bad guys are trying to catch up with us.  If we're using an incredibly sexy machine like a Lambo, GSX1000, 'Vette, or even something Darth Vader-like as a CTS-V station wagon, we'd make a smooth getaway with modest ability......Those are the elite or at least very competitive teams in the league. But no, we have a blue, white and red VW Jetta.......and a diesel one at that. No, it's not a Ford Mustang V-6 that looks the part but disappoints in straight line speed, but it's definiitely not a Kia Soul with nothing more than gerbil power.

With the right guy behind the wheel, the Jetta is nimble enough to avoid capture and allows us good guys to make it through to another day.

WE... DON'T... HAVE... THE... RIGHT... DRIVER, GUYS.....and speaking of not having the right driver.....

Would'ya look at the Lakers! I called that one and saw that train wreck from 2 miles away. If I'm Phil Jackson, I don't even allow my chauffeur so much as a casual glance at the phone to see if it's the Buss' phone number ringing off the hook; even if it is Jeanie. Stay classy Phil. Your former star pupil mentioned you indirectly at a post game press conference and remembers you fondly. Let 'em stew in this mess until Dr. Jerry Buss humbly asks for forgiveness, offers his majority ownership and throws in a lithe twenty-something beauty from Bulgaria to become your professional ball washer (thanks Lewis Black! - if you haven't seen the video, do yourself a favor and find it.)

And I don't mean anything remotely connected with athletics Embarassed

ok , now i know about Nene's minutes and it makes sense.  Hopefully more minutes for him soon because, as i just stated, i believe he does make a big differene.  I would still like more seriphin minutes though as i feel he is at that stage were hw is ready to step up and do more.

At this time it is 92-89 with 6 minutes left .. Lakers up.   and we are out rebounding them. Would be nice to get this one.
And how about a guy we've all said we like ...Cartier?  Firing it up for 18 so far.  We have all at one time or another cried out for this guy to get a chance.  6'7" and can be deadly from the outside and....REBOUNDS out of the 3 spot.   All things we can use.

If we slowly keep competing more and more i think whitman is safe ... for the year anyway, then we evaluate where we are at.

"If we slowly keep competing more and more i think whitman is safe."

Obviously Leonsis feels the same way....and that's exactly the type of thinking that will keep this team wallowing in the muck and mire. That is, of course, until the very end of the season in which they'll put together a six game winning streak and have everybody believing they're turning the corner. Well I'm not buying what their selling this season. The corner that they're turning is nothing more than a loop as long as Randy Wittman remains commander in chief.

He needs to go....not later, but now.
