Many Paid Leagues are starting playoffs this week i am officlaly in 7 playoffs out of 9 paid leagues, with 3 first round byes
Ram, my playoffs start this week in my auction league (I was part of a 5-way tie for first, second in points, second in power rank, H2H winner against all but the top seed, but no bye for me). I'm just curious how much this team looks like your teams (this one's PPR):

QB: Peyton Manning (sitting Ryan)
RB1: Martin
RB2: LeShoure (or McFadden if healthy)
WR1: Julio
WR2: Garcon
WR3: Danario
WR/TE: Josh Gordon
K: Graham
DST: Bengals (sitting Texans

1st round bye in my playoff league. Solid core and looking foward to it. Won most points for the year in this one.

Rodgers
Martin, Lynch, Moreno, Leshoure, Wells
Bryant, S Smith, T Smith, D Alexander
Rudolph, Lewis

That week where Martin went off I broke a league record with over 200 points. Been fun in this league for sure.

For the Barbarians, I am content if I don't make it because I so badly wanted to beat the pants off when I played Naughty :) Newton did in fact turn it around it was just too late for me to make a big enough dent. Really crazy year for me in this one going 6 and 0 and then 0 and 6 lol.

Good game Dog! Thought I had you after the first half but Eli and Nicks kinda crapped the bed in the second half. Oh well, those first 2 games this year I left like 100 points on the bench and never recovered and struggled all year with WSIS issues. Calvin's slow start didn't help either so to the "B" league I go. Here is my money league team (1st in points, 2nd in power rankings and 1st in all play).

QB Kaps (Rivers on bench; this team was rolling with Big Ben at the helm and I can't figure it out as he didn't have any huge games in this scoring system)
RB Foster
RB Martin
RB Murray (LeShoure was in this slot along with Reece)
WR Wayne
WR Colston
WR Decker (Who I might sit for either Givens or Blackmon)
TE Finley (with Heath on the bench; another position that has been a struggle since Big Ben got hurt)
K Zuerline
D Denver

I'm 9-4 and a win this week and I win the division and a week 15 bye; a loss and I need help just to get in. Funny, out of the 4 games I lost the opposing team D was their highest scorer and totally kicked my ass (week 1 the Jets scored 34 and I lost by 11, week 4 Bears scored 35 and lost by 18 and week 12 Pats scored 28 and I lost by 6).

A side note on the Predict-o-Meter: the real purpose of this was to keep objective track of Foot's crazy calls, so he wouldn't be able to ooh and ahh next year over the one or two he was kinda close on while ignoring all the ones where he screwed the pooch so badly there are dozens of little Foot-puppies running around. (Ahem. Sorry.) I'll carry this through Week 16 but won't be repeating this exercise next year... we'll let the rankings competitions settle those kinds of questions.

Without further ado:

TE debate

Okay, it's win or go home and the TE spot has been a disaster all year.

I'm in two money leagues (the one I usually talk about is the main one, 100 bucks), but there is another 20 dollar league I'm in with only 10 teams, first time I've tried that, but a friend of mine asked me to go in, so I said what the heck.  (NFL.com by the way, and terrible user friendliness)

So, it comes down to this I need a consensus from each.

Gresham (in now), or Marcedes Lewis (probably can't talk me into him) or Ben Watson (attempting waiver claim tonight)

and

Myers (in now), or Marty Bennett (snatched him back up a couple of weeks ago)...there are others on waivers, from Pettigrew down, any wildcards?  -- by the way, started 0-4 in this league and just won my 10th in a row to finish 1st as we head to a four team playoff.  Drafted Rivers and Gates, traded for Peyton in Week 6 and never looked back!

The Foot Predict-o-Meter - Final Report

Credit to Foot for getting one right. Spiller did indeed finish as the #7 RB, just as he predicted. Spiller's ADP was as the #36 RB, so Foot can crow a litttle about this - or rather he could if he hadn't botched so many other picks.

The final rundown, from sanest to craziest:

Meh (crazy rating of 2)

CJ2K will be the #1 RB
He was the 4th RB in ADP, so this is hardly a stretch. Dead wrong, though, coming in at 13th and 131 FF points out of the #1 spot. A terrible prediction, but close enough to mainstream thinking that we shouldn't really pillory you for it.

Off the Beaten Path (crazy rating of 3)

Cam Newton will be the #1 QB
His ADP was as the #5 QB, and very few people had him #1, so this was a little unusual. Cam came on in the second half and ended up #6, 71 points out, and worse than ADP. Putting him #1 was a bad prediction, and would have put your team in a big hole early if you followed it.

Peyton Manning will be a Top-2 QB
Wrong again - but not by much, as Peyton ended up at #4, 36 FF points out of the #2 spot. ADP had him as the #9 QB, so while Foot was off, this wasn't bad advice at all, although it wasn't a revolutionary prediction.

Huh.. Interesting (crazy rating of 4)

Shonn Greene will be a top-11 RB
A modest goal, but still wrong. Greene came in as the #15 RB, 29 FF points away from the top 11. With an ADP as the 24th RB, though, this is another case of being wrong but the advice not being too horrible - although also not too unusual.

Out There (crazy rating of 5)

Charles will be a Top-2 RB
With the injury and Hillis in the wings, people were low on Charles and his ADP was down at #14 among RBs. Foot had him crazy high at #2. He ended up right in the middle at #8, but a big 59 FF points out of the #2 spot. Foot was right in rating him above ADP, but so far off in how high he rated him that this is a bad call.

Pretty Crazy (crazy rating of 6)

Demaryius Thomas will be the #1 WR
Not that far off (he was the #5 WR, 23pts out), but still wrong. With an ADP as the 16th WR, this again isn't bad advice, but putting him #1 made it both a crazier prediction and a less accurate one.

Time to Get Your Head Examined (crazy rating of 7)

Miles Austin will be a Top-2 WR
Wrong Cowboy. Austin's ADP was #27 among WRs, and that's pretty much where he ended up (#26, and a whopping 88 FF points out of the top two). Horrible prediction.

Spiller will be a Top-7 RB
Credit where it's due: this is Foot's genius call, definitely crazy and absolutely correct. Spiller did in fact end up #7, while his ADP was a mile away at #36 among RBs. Props.

Turbin will be a Top-12 RB
To compensate, Foot was mind-numbingly wrong on this one. Turbin was unrosterable, finishing 57th among RBs and 122 FF points away from the #12 spot. His ADP as the 54th RB was on the money, and Foot was totally off.

Seriously, It's Time to Get Your Head Examined (crazy rating of 8)

Russell Wilson will be a Top-4 QB
Wilson poured it on late and climbed up to #9, but still 58 FF points out of the top 4. Worse, half his points came after Week 11 (and 30% after Week 14), when they were too late to do much good. Still, he was the 24th QB in ADP, so Foot was on to something, but as usual he aimed too high and the result was bad advice.

Lamar Miller will be a Top-10 RB
His ADP was nonexistent... and so was he, mustering a paltry 35 FF points despite being healthy all year, to end up as the 72nd RB, 164 FF points out of the top 10.

Bat-Guano Crazy (crazy rating of 9)

Flacco will be a top-3 QB
Instead, Flacco ended up where he always does, in the middle of the pack (#15 QB), with every single stat number perfectly in line with the average over his previous three years (as everyone else predicted). A terrible, team-crushing prediction.

Summing Up

By itself, the Spiller call is amazing. And the Peyton Manning and Demaryius Thomas calls would have been great if he'd been a little more modest. Taken together, though, the terrible calls balance out the better ones and result in an unimpressive set of predictions (and an unreliable predictor). He gets points for creativity, though.

Will Great job with the stats but I have to say had you drafted all these guys like I sugested and drafted them where their average adp was targeted you would have made out like a bandit with every pick except for one. Chris Johnson. If you look at where the players I targeted would have been drafted and where they ended up my suggestions would have been fabulous for building a team. Let's look first at the negative and granted it was a big negaitive cause it was a first round selection that missed.

Chris Johnson projected to be  a first round price tag/ finished 13th. Not a worthy first round pick by any means but not as bad as some like a Mc Coy.

Maybe you could add Cam Newton here too cause he was a late 2nd rounder and played more like a 3rd rounder but he still was decent and was phenominol expecially at play off time.

Now here is why I say my advice was actually not bad advice but great advice in fact if you drafted these guys where they where drafted you would have made out great or at the very least broke even on every pick.

Peyton Manning - 8th round price tag. Adp had him ranked 9th he was the 11th Qb drafted in our league and finished as the fourth best QB. Major bargain.

Shone Green ranked as the 24 adp RB finished in at 15th. Another good pick with very good value.

Jamaal Charles ranked 14th adp RB came in 8th. Great value

Demarious Thomas ranked 16th best wr came in 5th. Tremendous value here.

Miles Austin ranked 27the came in 26th. Didnt blow any one's skirt up but still had value even if it was ever so slim.

CJ Spiller. ranked 36th came in 7th. Insane value.

Turbin ranked 54 finished 57 but the good thing is he was a waiver pick up so he didnt hurt you. Same with Lamar even though he didnt pan out you probably didnt waste a high or nmid range pick on him so he didnt hurt you either.

Russell Wilson. I think this pick was one of my best considering. Ranked 24th finished 9th. Tied Peyton Manning TD record for a rookie. I'd say i was on to something too Will. Cant wait to see what he does in the play offs.

And finally Flacco - Even though Flacco was a major disappointment to The Foot he too didnt cost you as he finished right where he was projected. The only players that did worse than thier adp where Johnson and Newton and Newton was slightly.

So aside from my crazy predictions which i agree were crazy if you just drafted all these guys in there normall draft positions you would have done pretty good if not great with all but two of these picks.

I know all this is bragging adn i greatly appologize and don't worry I wont say anything further after this  but i just felt like i kinda had to point out some other things and hopefully guys can see it from my point-of-view that these picks and advice where actually pretty tight.

Foot,

I agree with you that a lot of these picks were very good.  I think what gets you in trouble is your language when you are making predictions.  If you went for a little less shock value and were a little more vague, your picks would have been stunningly accurate.

Instead of saying that Demarious Thomas will be the number 1 WR, list him as a mid round WR with a high liklihood of posting elite value.  Predicting anybody (even Calvin Johnson) to be number 1 is dangerous.  You are pretty much setting yourself up to fail because anything short of that is disappointment.  D. Thomas had a spectacular season, but he was not number 1.

As for the QB rankings, there are 3 players in this group who will give you elite production year in and year out no matter what.  They are the focal points of dynamic offenses, they are remarkably consistent, they are brilliant football minds and they have too many offensive weapons around them to fail.  The "they" I refer to are Brady, Rogers and Brees.  They need to be in your top 5 next year if you want it to be taken seriously.  Barring injury, these 3 guys are about the only sure things in our game of uncertainty.  Manning is right there on ability, but a little behind due to injury risk.

If you think that RG3 or Cam will sneak ahead of a couple of these guys, that isn't too crazy.  Just wait until after you list Brees, Brady and Rogers before you start taking shots on Kaepernick and Russel Wilson.  Kaep and Russ will both be trendy picks next year, but neither player gets enough usage in run heavy attacks for their value's to approach the fantasy elite.

Heed my advice and Wil's update next year will be entitled "Foot the Genius" instead of "crazy foot".

It may be hard to believe, but my number one love is Fantsy Baseball. Played FBB for years (going back to pulling stats from Sunday paper and manually compiling results) before venturing into FFB. In one league we had our one week trading period last week for our keepers. We have 12 on our roster now. Will have to cut down to 7 on March 1, after a one month trading period starting Feb 1. Sure did wet my appetite for FBB. By the way, got M Cain for R Zimmerman in a trade last week. And weekly leagues are my preference-I also like rotissorie over H2H and auction over draft.

Playoff Pick 'Em

Duff over Lefty - I can't pick Lefty.  That's just bad luck.  Looking to avenge my 110-102 loss back in Week 4.

Treff over Fuzzy - Treff's team has "underperformed" as he's played a few higher scoring teams lately.  I think he breaks that trend this week.  Too many good players not to.

I'm also on the Duff and Treff bandwagon.... although I'm hoping Aaron Rodgers goes way off this week!  Speaking of my money league...

I got Ben Watson last night on waivers....Gresham or Watson??  Gresham plays tonight.

Same, I like Gresham. Higher ceiling overall - better stats throughout the year. It's the safer and smarter pick.
