Ravens fire DC Cam Cameron, hire Jim CaldwellDecember 17, 2012 11:53 am
Simple fact. Flacco never should have thrown that ball....
BUT I AM GLAD HE DID. lol Like I said earlier, the Ravens offense played just about how I expected and offense to play a few days after their cooridnator was fired: Horrible. Don't twist my words though.....our D had a lot to do with that too...... |

Aaaaaaannd, clock management is not on Caldwell. Just saying. I think guys are looking for things to write about and are reaching. Saying that Denver just dominated and that Flacco had some execution issues won't sell as many papers. Those of us who saw that play, know why it didn't work.

Really? An OC who's calling the offensive plays has no input on clock management? I find that difficult to believe, especially since one of the reasons Caldwell was tapped was to utilize no-huddle more. Last I checked, determining when to use no huddle is one of the weapons used in clock management. I'm not convinced that pass was that good a play to call. Had they taken some time, they could have managed that much better then they did. All we saw is why the play that was called didn't work. There's no evidence to suggest it was the best play to call in that case.
Anyway, I failed to see any evidence that the playcalling changed from last week to this week, regardless of how well our team played. But there are still two more weeks to show whether or not this was a smart move. So far I've seen nothing to suggest this was a good move to make 3 weeks away from the playoffs. However, yesterday's game does suggest the move had a negative impact. For now, it's obvious that we must agree to disagree here. |

Yes, the announcers did make mention of the fact Flacco stared down the receiver. It wasn't until later in the evening that others were questioning the way that play was called, and why there was no TO taken to maximize the clock, etc. A legitimate concern IMO. It wasn't just Judge. ESPN commentators and NFL network commentators mentioned similar things about that play. Just reporting what I've heard.
