How Many More Losses With Carson Palmer ?

To your point about superbowl titles, if 98% of the QBs were white QBs with little athetic ability of course that is who is gonna win them the majority of the time.

America has an ugly history of racism and it continues today. In the beginning of football they didn't even want black players on the team and especially not at QB.

That is why I am a Raider fan because Al Davis didn't care if you were white or black if you had talent and could help the team win he would give you a chance.

89 You sound more illogical than Rodtard,

You contradict yourself around every comment

you have been proven wrong on every comment you make.

Finally when nobody even mentions it outside yourself you pull out the race card.

Get over yourself, nobody cares what color you or Pryor are, The only thing people hate on you for is being the village idiot now that RodTard is gone.

Once again Palmer is above average even good at times , now nobody in thier right mind would put him in the Hall of Fame, however he is by far and large ahead of anything available to us right now. The team is going to sit Pryor behind him for the next 3 years just like Green Bay did to Rodgers, and why not after all Palmer isnt the problem (Pssst its Knapp). After three years of Training Pryor should come out and light the world on Fire and if he doesnt at least he will be a servicable backup.

Go ahead and keep believing your delusions and enjoy Carson Palmer's terrible mobility, interceptions, settling for field goals, and losing games.

Enjoy !!!

Racism? Yes there is a history of racism in this country, but in the last 20 years black quarterbacks have not been discriminated.  Something else is happening.  What you call racism is actually the result of having a college coach who decides he would rather exploit your physical attributes for collegiate success rather than taking the time to teach a player to read a defense.....

This also might be a factor:

The Rule of 26-27-60 helps predict NFL quarterback success or failure

Rule: Get at least 26 on Wonderlic, start 27 games and complete 60% of passes

Perhaps we should not be stunned by JaMarcus Russell's utter flop as an NFL quarterback -- low-lighted this week by his arrest for possession of a controlled substance in Alabama.

But could a simple formula have warned us of Russell's lack of NFL readiness? And Ryan Leaf's and David Carr's and other failed, high-pick quarterbacks?

Call it the Rule of 26-27-60.

Here is the gist of it: If an NFL prospect scores at least a 26 on the Wonderlic test, starts at least 27 games in his college career and completes at least 60 percent of his passes, there's a good chance he will succeed at the NFL level.

There are, of course, exceptions. If NFL general managers always could measure heart, determination and other intangibles, then Tom Brady would not have been drafted in the sixth round.

But short of breaking down tape, conducting personal interviews and analyzing every number and every snap of every game, remember the Rule of 26-27-60 the next time a hotshot prospect comes down the pike.

Since 1998, these are some of the NFL quarterbacks who aced all three parts of the Rule of 26-27-60: Peyton Manning, Phillip Rivers, Eli Manning, Drew Brees, Tony Romo, Matt Schaub, Kyle Orton, Kevin Kolb, Matt Ryan, Ryan Fitzpatrick and Matt Stafford.

Kolb, Orton, Fitzpatrick are counted among the successes and yet he says "some" of the QBs who aced all 3 parts.

The 27 starts seems so arbitrary as well. Apparently if you aren't in a big enough conference to have a conference championship (ie, 12 games + 1 bowl * 2 years), you need another whole year of being a starter.

I think you should at least find something meaningful when you set your standards, even if it isn't purely exactly perfect for your small data set.

RaiderCal, I really like your post.  The thing I wanna add to it (that lots of sports writers don't want to talk about, for whatever reason) is this ...

Part of it is that guys from most of these teams just straight up can't play pro qb.  Their success and their good p.r. comes from the fact that they can run a college offense very well.  Sports writers love them for it.  It 'causes people (rightly or wrongly) to speculate on whether they can make the jump to the pros.  But the fact is that their skill set isn't one that will translate, no matter how hard they work.

It's why so many QB's from those "Almost pro-style" teams like SC/UF/FSU/UT/Ohio State/LSU/UT etc have populated the NFL with backup qb's with "potential" over the last 15-20 years.  Big difference between being the trigger man who gets it to your all-World skill players (going against some English major who plays CB, as opposed to an NFL defense, no less) and being the big swinging Richard who can make a play.

It's likely that Pryor is another one of those "almost made it" guys.  I'd like to see him do well, and I'd like to know what we have in him.  But the fact is if he had done anything to distinguish himself from Leinart (seriously?  Can't beat out Matt Leinart?) he'd be out there instead.

No, you have stated in the past that you are a Raiders fan simply because you were a Randy Moss fan when the Raiders acuired him from the Vikings.

That's how I first became a fan of the Raiders but then I learned about Al Davis and the history of the Raiders which is why I'm still a Raiders fan and haven't moved on even after they traded Moss away.

Then you should know that Al Davis made his living on revitalizing the careers of retreads. Shoot, Even Rich Gannon was 34 years old and hadn't done squat (56.9% completion percentage, 31-27 QB Record, 66 TDs and 54 INTs) during his 12 years in the NFL prior to coming to the Raiders.

If Davis and his philosophies are what kept you around the Raiders then Carson Palmer is exactly the type of guy you should be supporting and hoping to see succeed. Him staying is also Terrelle Pryor's best chance of ever succeeding in a Raiders uniform, so even more reason for you to want to see him stick around.

Rich Gannon had a winning record and was a mobile QB. Carson Palmer is none of those things. He's the exact opposite actually.

Carson Palmer's record is 8 wins - 16 Losses as Oakland's starter and his career record is 54 wins - 67 Losses.

The Raiders should get whatever draft picks they can for Carson Palmer. Palmer is old, turnover prone, bad in the redzone and he can't escape pressure and make plays because he is as slow as a sloth.

They should start the double threat QB Terrelle Pryor and either trade for Tyrod Taylor or sign a free agent like Chase Daniel or Drew Stanton to be his backup. And they should sign Jason Campbell to be third string.

QB
1) Terrelle Pryor
2) Tyrod Taylor / Chase Daniel / Drew Stanton
3) Jason Campbell
