If we are going after Crabtree we might as well just go after Calvin Johnson. I don't know why the 49ers would let him go now
Having Larry Fitgerald on this team would be awsome but it would be hard to do with Peterson and Harvin on the team. I keep hearing about Harvin being unhappy. If thats the case I wouldn't be completely against trading Harvin and then getting Larry F and having Wright take over for Harvin. Of course Harvin probably works better for Ponder than Fitgerald |

I said trade Harvin before the last draft and I still think they should ve and should still. He is nothng more then a drama queen that thinks he`s better then he is. I would never give him big money like he wants, and some dumb team will give him it. If we could use him to get Fitzgerald that would be great, but fitz is getting alot of money too so what does it matter. top qbs get 20 million top runners get 13 million mark set by Chris Johnson and now top receivers are worth 18 million a year as set by Calvin Johnson. I bet A.J. Green cant wait for his contract to be up. Anyways I could bet Harvin has seen his last game as a Viking.

I can't believe I'm about to agree with FSN, but as good as Percy Harvin is, he does indeed show signs of a diva (and a fragile one at that) who thinks the world revolves around him.
The dude reminds me of another star Minnesota player who started out red hot, but had question marks when it came to character and work ethic even before draft day: Isaiah "JR" Rider. Guys like this seem to need a change of scenery every couple of years before the proverbial ticking time bomb goes off. The Wolves waited too long with Rider, but if the Vikings can get some value for Harvin before he does something to make his stock plummet, they could recoup enough cap space to make getting Larry Fitzgerald a realistic scenario. |

Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk seems to think the Vikings may be done with Harvin:
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.co m/2012/12/23/signs-point-to-percy-h arvin-leaving-vikings/ If that's the case, then there truly is no reason whatsoever why Minnesota could not trade for Larry Fitzgerald. Not having Harvin in the slot will be a blow to the Vikings offense, but if they have Fitz on the outside, that'd really open things up for Rudolph. |

I doubt Harvin is going anywhere, coaches get paid to deal with players and Harvin being the best offensive weapon the Vikings have he'd pretty much have to hit the coach before they would trade him. Unless some team steps up and offers something big Harvin will be a Viking for atleast another year and possibly longer. That article is nothing more than tabloid garbage.

Personally I would love to see Fitz in a Viking uniform iggy. There are a few reason though that I don't see it happening. First, his salary, second that we have a QB that can't throw a deep ball and third his age. I just see the Vikings using the draft or atleast going younger and less expensive.....Harvin would only cost the Vikings somewhere in the 1 million range at most next season. Harvin may be a hot head at times but the guy produces......he just wants to win. Ponder is the problem and what is holding that offence back.....I have no problem with Harvin voicing his displeasure with that.

Harvin would be cheap next season, yes, but the Vikings have to make a decision this summer on whether or not they're going to trade him or extend him. If they decide to keep him and aren't able to get his contract done before training camp, he will hold out GUARANTEED. At that point, he'd be exactly sort of headache (no pun intended) that Mike Florio's article suggests he has already become inside the locker room.
If they trade Harvin, the Vikings still SORELY need to upgrade at receiver. The tragedy of the situation is that we're stuck with Ponder. After his horrendous game at Lambeau a few weeks ago, I was on this board throwing around names like Alex Smith or Chad Henne to replace Ponder next season. But that's not going to happen. It's been great to see the Vikings string 3 wins together after that horrible loss against the Packers. Incredibly, the Vikings control their own playoff destiny. In August, I would have bet everything I owned that this scenario could never happen. The only downside is that Ponder has saved his job. There's no denying it. He will be the team's Week 1 starter next year and Spielman will have to ensure that he's got far better weapons to work with than what he had this year. If they resign Harvin, I'm OK with that. My biggest fear isn't so much that he's a diva. My fear is that he's injury prone. In the off chance they decide to trade Harvin this summer, I think Fitz would be an awesome addition. I don't think his age is that big of a deal and he'd be an unreal outside threat. He's every bit as good as Calvin Johnson; he just doesn't have a quarterback like Matthew Stafford to get him the ball. Or an offensive line that can block. |

Time will tell about Harvin. If he truely doesn't want to be a Viking and is causing problems then you have to deal with it and look at trading him. Thus far he hasn't other than bogus reports in the summer that were not true which leads me to believe these are more of the same. Regardin Harvin being injury prone that is actual not true either and just the opposite. Harvin missed time because of migraines and those have been under control this entire season but injury wise and missing games he has not. Regarding Ponder I agree he'll be on the team for the start of next season....cap wise he pretty much has to and the fact there are no real options this coming season as of now we do have no choice. That said, the Vikings would be foolish not to bring in someoneto compete with him. What is sad is some Viking fans are actually excited about his play yesterday as if it was a great game. It's amazing how low expectations have dropped......it's like we all haven't had a meal in 2 monthes so that bowl of soup that we were given tastes like a gourmet meal lol. We need WR's and atleast one solid deep threat but do you really think Fitz would want to be on a team with Ponder as it's QB ??? I don't ....i see him wanting to be a Viking but Ponder has to be the worst deep ball thrower in the league...back ups included. I like the idea of an Alex Smith but agree that's not a realistic idea....there are a few QB starved teams and I doubt the Vikings will pay up like some will for a few of these players. Ideally I think we all are still hoping Ponder turns the corner in a big way.

Harvin is just showing his emotion to want to win, only trade him if you cant re-sign him this offseason during his holdout.
Patrick Peterson slapped them clip board out of his coaches hand yesterday in a yelling match, trade him? We can not afford Fitz |

The marketing pitch to Fitz isn't so much that he's a Minnesota native who grew up a Vikings fan. That may help a little, but it's not going to be something that sways him either way. What COULD sway him would be two things. First, he'd be playing for a playoff contending team with one of the game's greatest players of all time in Adrian Peterson. Second, and maybe most importantly, he knows that as probably the second best deep threat in the NFL, he is key missing ingredient on this Vikings team (other than a better quarterback). In 2009, Sidney Rice's threat on the outside is what allowed Peterson, Harvin, and Shianco to have so much space up the middle and in the slot. That wreaked havoc on opposing defenses. With Fitz, other teams wouldn't simply be able to stack 8 or 9 in the box on every single play as they've done this season. Which just proves that Peterson should be the MVP...but that's a debate for another thread.

Still doesn't answer who would be throwing him the ball iggy....not trying to be negative but in 2009 with Rice it was Favre winging it around. Unless we get a much better deep ball thrower with some zip does it matter who our deep threat is........

Greg Jennings in all likely hood will not be resigned in Green Bay after the season. Not that I would like Jennings to end up in Minnesota, but I can see him being a Viking next season.
I believe he is only 29 years old so he he should have some good years left in him. With Jones, Nelson, and Cobb all under contract there is no money left over for Jennings in Green Bay. Great locker room guy as well. |

From what I remember of Jennings, he seems like the kinda guy that streaks across the middle, has great hands, always knows where to be, and can make plays with the ball. It just seems like he and Percy and Rudolph would all be in the same part of the field at their best.
The Vikings need a guy that can go down the field, go up, and get the ball. They don't have to be as talented as AJ Green or Calvin Johnson, but just someone that can threaten that. Then again, whether or not Ponder can get the ball down the field to them is another issue. Jennings is really talented and seems like a great guy and locker room guy, but I am not sure if that type of receiver is really an area of need right now. Then again, the Packers don't seem like they have a huge guy that can do that, Rodgers just always gets them the ball when they are running, so there are lots of opportunities after the catch. |

Fitzgerald had most all of his success with a future hall of fame quarteraback throwing him the ball. I can't get to excited about a slow 30 year old wide receiver that gets little seperation.
