I think Barr has a sour taste in his mouth after the Spanking UCLA got.

My DVR is down Directv has an issue ongoing and I cannot record games as of Saturday. Whiskey Tango Foxtrot. Once it goes back on line, I have a bunch of games to watch. Big day on Jan. 1st. But on Friday make sure you catch the Cotton Bowl, Pat Summeral usualy does the commentating, he may be old and senile, but miles ahead of the crapola ESPN puts on the air, specifically Beth Mowins. Keep your eye on Texas A&M, while the country watches Johnny Football, us draftniks will be watching the two OT's Joeckal and Matthews, the DE Damontre Moore, all top 15 picks. Also on ther Aggies are a bunch of other guys to watch and take notes on.  Posession WR in Ryan Swope, very solid hands, explosive OLB in Sean Porter, a 5-11 220 lb. running back in Christine Michael, and my sleeper 5 technique, Spencer Nealy.  On the other side of the ball for Oklahoma, you got Johnson the OT, Jefferson the Safety people are salivating over, a powerful Junior FB named Millard who is rated as the best FB in the draft.  Also on OK are Landry Jones QB, Kenny Stills at WR, and another later round guy, or undrafted 5 technique named David King.

Rashard Mendenhall looked awful today, the writing is on the wall, the most decisive and powerful back was Redman. I had mentioned a few months back we should be looking at the kid out of OK State. He plays tomorrow keep an eye on Joseph Randle. Game is on at noon, for those of you who  have the day off in the Heart of Dallas Bowl. (name sounds lame, but could be a good game.)  One of the better Punters in college is Quinn Sharp. I think Brad Wing will go pro, kid out of LSU. Also on OK State is a WR to check out, Tracey Moore. For Purdue, the big name is the big man, a DT name Kawann Short. Purdue also has a CB he could be drafted late, Josh Johnson.

I apologize for not reporting on any more bowl games, again my DVR is locked, has an issue that Directv is aware of, was told it could reset in a day or two, right now the blue circle is spinning perpetually and annoying the crap out of me.  It is also the only Hi-Def reciever I got, so the other tv's have regular pictures....... man once you get used to Hi-Def, everything that isn't looks like chit. That and my fridge died, I spent Saturday morning moving appliances and driving to the Warehouse Store, haggling on a floor model.

I will be posting my DL rankings within the next few days, raw draft, but I got over 30 names in the hat. Had to drop Jenkins from Georgia, inelligible for the Sun Bowl for academics. Not the brightest light on the tree, but a big m0f0 that could clog the middle, reminds me of Mount Cody, who fell to the Ravens, which some people thought was surprising.  Abry Jones for Georgia is another NT prospect, currently injured I don't he plays tomorrow.

I have been keeping a good eye on this and to my knowledge he is waiting to see what kind of evaluation he will get before making a decision one way or another.

If they grade him with a first round score he will probably enter the draft making him a mid to bottom first round pick.

What would we have gotten if we lost? 11th or 12th? Pretty big difference. Nonetheless there is absolutely no excuse we shouldn't be able to land a legit player at 17. It's time to get back on track to the pre- Ziggy Hood drafts and land an all pro player for years to come.

Pre-Ziggy Hood? Really? Colbert and Tomlin are horrendous at drafting, especially in the 1st Round. Minus Lawrence Timmons have they had a good 1st-rounder? Take a look at that defense. It's done. Aged. And no one to take over for the aging players. No safties to take over for Polamalu (cut), no D-line, no OLBs to take over for Harrison (cut). who knows about Spence and Worlids. Lewis already said he's one of the top players at his position. So he's gone. Taylor is getting old. Hampton and Foote need to retire, no one to take over for them. so where exactly have they replaced these guys with? Bad planning. In fact I'd be more than OK to fire both Colbert and Tomlin. Time to start fresh. Tomlin is a friend, not a coach/manager.

There are five other 7-9 teams. And the Rams at 7-8-1.

They would have at least moved to 16, I dont know where they would have ended up with the tie breakers but it would have been somewhere between 11 and 16.

Pre-Ziggy Hood? Really? Colbert and Tomlin are horrendous at drafting, especially in the 1st Round.

Colbert got us Big Ben, Heath, Troy, Santonio (pre-pothead), some pretty good talent. Some late round picks like Antonio Brown in the 6th, Kelvin Beachum in the 7th, Mike Wallace, Emmanuel Sanders, and Keenan Lewis in the 3rd, that's good drafting.

Minus Lawrence Timmons have they had a good 1st-rounder?

Maurkice Pouncey is starting in the probowl. Too early to grade David DeCastro, but I loved the pick, as did most.  When Mike Adams started for Marcus Gilbert, our running game was clicking. Both these OT's are second rounders and solid picks.

Take a look at that defense. It's done. Aged. And no one to take over for the aging players.

The season sucked, no doubt, but the Defense is what kept us the Cincy game, 16 rushes for 14 yards, and the Bengals O-Line does not suck.

No safties to take over for Polamalu (cut), no D-line, no OLBs to take over for Harrison (cut). who knows about Spence and Worlids.

I agree there are no good backup safeties, Will Allen is not bad, but not the youth in the wings we would like. I think the coaches know more abot Worilds than we do, and Spence getting inured was just bad luck.

Lewis already said he's one of the top players at his position. So he's gone. Taylor is getting old.

Not sure of Lewis, but Ike Taylor has a few years left in him. Cortez Allen is a really good CB that is only going to get better with playing time. Last two games he had 2 picks and 3 forced fumbles. Part of the crap season we had was the inability to create turnovers, #28 seems to be the right type of player they need to right that ship.

Hampton and Foote need to retire, no one to take over for them. so where exactly have they replaced these guys with? Bad planning.

I disagree, I think Snack has another year, he has indicated he will play for Pittsburgh if the contract is not low ball. Foote tried another team, he came back after a year, and I think he has 2 years left, then will he Farrior his way to Happy Valley.

In fact I'd be more than OK to fire both Colbert and Tomlin. Time to start fresh. Tomlin is a friend, not a coach/manager.

I think you are frustrated and venting, Tomlin got them to two Super Bowls, in about a third of the time it took Cowher. Cobert is one of the better GM's in the NFL, nobody talks about because he flies under the radar.  Do you really want to be the Browns or the Steelers? The Browns are an up and coming team, not an easy out, and they are cleaning house for the 5th time since 1998, look where it got them?

I do not disagree with everything you said, but I also think some changes need to be made. You did not metion Sean Kulgler, Pittsburgh is going to lose a very good O-Line coach. At the same time they got Carnell Lake, these young DB's seemed to develop a whole lot quicker and better once Lake joined the staff.

Steelwood, which one? I am 66 and am waiting for the maturity of our guys. I think Hampton, Harrison, Kiesel, Foote and even Polamalu should leave the team and make room for young talent and plyers who are going to get.

I trust on Colvert and Tomlin, and I think this was a season of recognition and confirmation of our needs and weaknesses.
The next draft will be more aggressive and see the posibilities even of sacrificing future selections to fill our needs.

If we continue 3-4 defense, Ziggy is not the solutions to our D-line, IMHO.
McClendon and Woods are excelent players only need continuity, and I think Heyward is ready to be starter. Of Taumu, forget what he did off the field and give him a real chance to play. Hampton needed be out.
What do you think about J. Worilds, maybe is ready to start .

The O.Line is full of talent with Adams-Beachum-Pouncey-Decastro-Gilb
ert, and Starks, Legursky, Foster and DRAFT PICK HERE:B.Jones or A.Bayley. Willy Colon is done in IMHO.

Players to next Draft: ILB, SS, NT, G, QB, OLB, SF

Teo is my man, or Werner, and like Decastro last draft, I have faith in take one of them,

ST66, Wararior was referring to Steelwood56, obviously.  Happy New Year to you, in Central America if I remember correctly.

My box for DirecTV is having communication issues with thier server, so no recording or Hi_def tv. I was able to catch the first half of the NC State vs. Vanderbilt game.  Stock down on David Amerson and Mike Glennon.   I would take Jordan Poyer over Amerson and Tyler Bray over Glennon, just how I see it.

Manti Te'o and Werner, top ten picks, I think we're picking 17th, odds are that are long gone. I would not rule out Jake Matthews as our first pick, Colbert will go BPA.  Still think Mingo and Hankins are all talent and their motors don't run on Sunoco 104 like I wish they did.

I think we should also throw Sheldon Richardson in the hat for round one. Warmack was my initial cannot miss guy, but after watching some YouTuber, he does get beat more than I thought, and he is not ideal height. Other than Doug Legursky, the Steelers OLinemen are mostly 6-4 or taller.

Ny, I agree with you that Te'o "should " be a top ten pick, but after doing a bit of research today, he may drop. Looked into this further after reading a mock that had us landing Te'o at 17 because of others not having a need at MLB...and that position not usually going high. While teams don't always base their picks on needs, we do see this every year...a player falling due to position. See decastro. -----------------------------------
-------------------------------- Let's say 3 qbs go before 17th pick..geno smith , Barkley, and Wilson/glennon . That moves us up to 14th. Then we have Jarvis jones, joekel, lutalelei , and jerner that will surely be picked ahead of him. Which leaves 9 teams in our way. Panthers have kuechly and Rams have laurinaitis. That leaves 7 teams. This is more of a reach but Jets have David Harris/ Bart Scott and Saints have Curtis Lofton so they could also pass. Which would leave 5 teams. Biggest threats IMO are Dolphins, Titans, and Chargers. Longs ways to go still to draft, we will see after combine. There will certainly be a few other players who shoot up the draft board, even bettering our chances

By the way, 10-12th picks are Titans, Chargers and Dolphins. That's where I am expecting him to go. But like I said, who knows what will happen after combine. If he gets past bucs at 13, the following teams left before us are Panthers, Saints, and Rams. Teams that certainly don't have a need for him. Gonna be interesting draft day for sure

If Te'o falls to 12 or 13 I could see us pull the trigger on a trade to get him. We did that for Palumalu, bumped up a few picks. This guy is a playmaker and we need some of that. Then get Jefferson in rd 2 and our defense should be looking lots better.

Agreed but Te'o is big and will run slow at the combine. Dumbazz Tomlin like's smaller quicker LB's so I doubt he would even draft him.
I think he would take Arthur Brown Kansas State 6/6-1 230 over Te'o.
Heck I dont think Tomlin even knows he could use a 1st round ILB, it took him 4 years to realize the OL needed help.

Truth,

Best sideline reporter they had was Bonnie Bernstein, but then you have to look at her face forward, from the side she looks like either a 53 Pontiac, or a Bottle Opener. Surprised

Beth Mowins is the anti-Christ of all that is broadcasting, she could butcher the commentary on a game of pong.

Gidion,

I like Ogletree myself, not sure if he grades out to pick 17, but everyone's board varies. I agree he is a solid football player. Since I cannot see the game, how did Bacari Rambo look? Rex Burkhead reminds me of a guy a few years back, Toby Gearhart.  I cannot stand Taylor Martinez, he has NO future in the NFL, at least not at QB.

Update on DirecTV, waiting on the FedEX guy to show up Thursday, this really sux with no HI-Def DVR.  But they gave us Free Starz for 3 moths....... big whoop.

Ny here is the Georgia Nebraska forst half player rating for our draft.

J. Jones, no thank you, makes great splash plays but is undisciplined

Ogletree, worth the 17  pick if we can't get Te'o. Guy plays in position and makes plays in the run and pass, converted safety has speed and size. Reminds me of Timmons.

Aaron Murry, worth a 5th rd flyer as a backup to Ben, through a pick 6 and came right back and drove them down the field for a go ahead TD.

Rex Berkhead ? #22 RB for Neb. Really runs hard and breaks tackles every time he touches the ball also caught some nice passes good receiver. worth a 4th or 5th rd pick

Martin #46 for Neb DE, made many nice plays for losses worth 3rd rd pick or maybe 2nd.

Geather for GA looks like a late rd pick 5th to 6th

Stafford #3 safety for Neb looks real good too.

These are the players that stood out in the first half

I know there are other players that you want to watch in this game but they haven't shown anything good or bad so I can't comment on them.

Okay it would make sense, put Ogletree next to Timmons, let them attack sideline to sideline.  I would say Minter is in the conversation too, both of these guys are Juniors, that will score points with Tomlin's evaluation.
