Just a simple majority and Boehner could not get a majority of his caucus to vote yes on last night's bill even though he voted yes.

without Pelosi's super majority, Obamacare (as proposed) wasn't getting passed.
sis, there is no such thing as a super majority in the House. Bills are passed by a simple majority unless someone wants to leapfrog over normal house procedures. Boehner has a 240 - 195 majority. I do not remember what Pelosi had - maybe 260 - 175 but only 218 is needed to pass bills. Pelosi could get 218 and Boehner doesn't always get it except on radical legislation that will never be implemented. |

sure, but what was proposed here is a crock of **** that doesn't tackle much of anything so the people in his party decided not to vote yes.... becuase what was proposed was a crock of ****.
A crock? So, tell me SisterRay-with the permanent extensions of the Bush tax cuts to what 98% of our working class, how much money will that continue to add to our economy? Oh, you forgot that one (as did Fox snooze). How much longer will that "payroll tax" help keep SS solvent? Oh you forgot that one as well (as did Fox snooze). I'll be the first to admit, more (as in cuts) are needed, but what was passed IS a step forward in the right direction. |
