its not prejudice ..its not wanting to hand the keys over to a guy who KNOWS NOTHING Of the NFL ..he will get chewed up and spit out just like Spurrier did when he brought his Fun & Gun offense .

No, not at first it's not a prejudice.  But, it will turn into one.  Pride and prejudice.

he wont last two years .BOOK IT !! before he goes crawling back to coach college ball somewhere .

Ha, you'll never admit but you'll be wishing this to happen (deep down inside) so you'll be vendicated.  I'm just sayin'.

go over to the OBR the best Browns site on the planet ..its 60 - 40 AGAINST Chippy Boy

Good thing they don't have any influence over who makes the decisions...

I am with TD, enough of the same old same old, enough of the conventional conservative wisdom...

If you want extraordinary results, you have to do something extreme..

Not unlike Belichik going to the 3-4 when no one else did, because of the athletes available, and then back to the 4-3 when the rest of the NFL flipped, there could be lots of athletes that fit Kelly's scheme that are available when the athletes that don't fit the other 31 teams are in high demand.

I am tired of the same old same old and ready for something different.  The past is gone, let it go.

What is the definition of insanity?  doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result...

I just can't for the life of me understand why any Browns fan wouldn't absolutely embrace a TOTAL AND COMPLETE change.....thanks for the support Jake.  Maybe it's just a select few.  Me thinks Lerner did way more damage to this fan base than anyone could have possibly imagined...

Of course their doing it backwards....another owner in town that just likes to show he has $ and will spend it on a big time coach....there should be a system in place along the lines of owner, president, gm, coach, players....If coach hired 1st what's the point of GM?

Still just talkin'.  I think the Browns have more offer.  The SU coach has taken the Bills job.

So if the Eagles do gank CK away then this ownership wouldn't lost their top two choices.

Clownshoes.  Egg on face.

Not good at all.

Cleveland fans, you are now learning first-hand what a PR mess Joey Nickels Banner really is. Case in point:

1) Banner proclaims that he is all-in on Chip Kelly, even trying to butter up his agent that Colt McCoy has a future with the franchise
2) The Eagles decide to back-off upon hearing reports that the Browns are signing Kelly to a deal, only to find out that Kelly still wants to interview
3) Kelly leaves the Browns interview without a deal
4) Eagles have a “lunch” meeting that turns into dinner and a 4th meal
5) Browns leak out that they are trying to “decide” between Kelly and Marrone
6) VERY shortly later, Marrone accepts a deal in Buffalo, clearly showing that Banner was trying to feign interest in Kelly in case he lost him to the Eagles

What will bring this all together oh-so-nicely is if Kelly goes back to Oregon or signs in Philly, showing all of Cleveland how Joey Nickels Banner outsmarts himself once again.

Rubu you dont know me very well . why the hell would i want the Browns to fail ? there would be no " vindication " in that . only more failure . more losing .which is all i see with this hire .

nobody has answered this yet .

who is the GM ?

your giving a total rookie total control ?

very bad recipie .

Well, at least no one said there was a 95-percent chance that the Browns would hire Chip Kelly.

At a time when every report and indication (few if any of which likely were originating with the Browns) suggested that the man whose Oregon teams wore all sorts of colorful uniform combinations would now be presiding over a [franchise sporting] a narrow ensemble of brown and orange, the Eagles swooped in and met with Kelly for most of Saturday in Arizona.  According to CSNPhilly.com, the session [lasted until 9:30 p.m. local time].

The meeting finally ended, and with the Bills hiring Doug Marrone it seems that there are only two suitors for Kelly:  the Browns and the Eagles.

It’s unclear whether Kelly’s agent, David Dunn, has managed to set up a tug-o-war between the boyhood friends who are pursuing the same coach.  Browns CEO Joe Banner and Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie grew up together and then worked as colleagues for a generation in Philly.

As we pointed out last night on Twitter (Rick Reilly may have been first, though), a sense was percolating through league circles that Dunn had done with Kelly what agent Bob LaMonte had done with Andy Reid, feeding to a willing and aggressive media member or two the idea that Kelly was close to a deal with the Browns in order to increase the sense of urgency for any other interested teams.

The Browns, if they truly want Kelly, erred by letting him meet with other teams.  The Eagles may have done the same by not closing the deal on Saturday night.

Then again, it could be that Dunn and Kelly are holding out in the hopes that one or both teams will pay too much money both to get Kelly and, perhaps as importantly, to keep the other franchise from landing him.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports that the Browns now consider Syracuse's Doug Marrone and Oregon's Chip Kelly to be "neck and neck" in the race to become Cleveland's next head coach.

They are still the Browns, of course, but it's a "race" because new owner Jimmy Haslam is going to open up his wallet for the new coach. Cleveland's grip on top target Kelly has clearly loosened as of late Saturday, and there are rumors he's already agreed to a deal with the Eagles. While Kelly was meeting with Philly on Saturday, the Browns interviewed Marrone for a second time.

Wow Bluez....This is going to be one helluva long offseason in the DPL if Kelly is hired it looks like.  Quite honestly, I'm surprised by all the negativity.....You survived the worst and most irrelevant owner in the history of sports in Randy Lerner!  What the hell?  We have a fresh new ownership group that REALLY cares about getting this franchise out of the basement....We had our own TV show within weeks of him becoming owner for crying out loud....Jimmy Haslam wants to win in the NFL..  This "hillbilly" as you like to call him, is the best thing to happen for the Browns in freakin decades!.  He wants nothing more than to see these Cleveland Browns as champions of the football world.  He's got innovative and fresh new ideas.  I just dont get it man.  Whats not to like???  Considering what all of us Browns fans have been through, I don't see a "culture shock" as a bad thing at all...

I griped all year about our offensive tempo, and now it seems we could be on the verge of hiring Chip Kelly....After back to back regimes of Mangini and Fritz, playing the unquestioned most boring football in the league, I just don't get how any Browns fan can be negative about this potential move....

thats all i got...Next round is on me.  WOOF!

Also, not sure who mentioned it but.........yes Webb would be worth a look at QB.  I watch a lot of CFB (I mean...like a lot), even the "mid-majors" and he's got a huge upside IMO.  Played pretty well for the Vikes when he had to step in a while back.
