2 Years In a Row?

I'll take a Hall of Fame coach over a broadcaster any day of the week.  Hubert has a lot to learn, and if he is so good, why is our shooting so bad???

This team has no heart yet.  Who knows what it will look like in March, but right now they have some learning to do...like how to play together.

3 problems exist...

1. No interior threat
2. Weak PG play
3. Roy won't waver from his run n gun, play through the post.

This team's stength is on the wings and until Roy figures out how to utilize the talent he has we'll see more of the same.  Strickland needs to be nothing more than a backup PG.  Hubert and James need to only garner limited minutes, as does McDonald on the wing.  Roy needs to tighten up the rotation.  Too many guys are coming and going.  Put your best 5 on the floor.  McAdoo, Johnson, Bullock, Hairston, and Paige.  Bench: Strickland, Tokoto, and McDonald.  Going small is more beneficial than having James or Hubert on the floor.  I can say without a doubt that Hubert will never develop into anything more than playing mop up minutes.  James has a chance, but right now is light years away from being ready.

On a bright note, we've all acknowledged that this UNC squad is filled with role players.  Well in a year we know they're going to struggle, we have guys gaining experience for seasons to come.  I'm excited about Meeks coming in next year.  Meeks will be that back to basket post player we're lacking.  If he dedicates himself like James getting in shape he has the chance to start from day one.  Hicks is much like Johnson with more upside.  Britt will fill the role of backup PG.

I don't really pay attention to recruiting, so I have one question for you.

Are any of these guys signed?  I don't know signing dates and things like that.  If there is still time for other schools to go after these guys, I wouldn't be surprised if we lost them to other schools.

Roy can only win when he has a LOADED roster (like the one he inherited in 2005 and the one he actually recruited in 2009) and he won't coach a kid up and make them better.  If I'm an elite recruit, I'm only going to UNC if other studs are doing the same.  If not, you will get stuck playing for a coach that doesn't believe in defense and gets outcoached by better coaches.  It's not a coincidence he could never win at Kansas with the teams he had.  He got outcoached.  Period.

Yes they are all signed and will be at UNC next year. I like our recruiting class for next year but if we lose McAdoo and don't get Wiggins I don't see us be a whole lot better next year. I think Meeks will definitely be an upgrade over any center we have right now but I don't think he will be a huge upgrade. Hicks will be really good one day but again I'm not sure he is gonna be much better then McAdoo or a sophomore Johnson his freshman year. We need Wiggins really bad because he is a guy that can carry a team and make everyone around him better. It would also be nice if McAdoo decided to come back and play one more year.

This year Roy needs to shorten his bench and get down to playing 8 maybe 9 guys a game. In both our National Championship years Roy played less guys big minutes and it worked a whole lot better. It is hard to get into any kind of rhythm when you are constantly in and out of the game. Next year we will have the same problem so Roy needs to tell our team the best 9 are going to play so you better be one of the best 9 players. If his does this maybe guys will start working their tails off to be one of those 9 and we will see more effort on a consistent basis. If you are not one of the 9 you only need to be playing in blow outs and if someone gets hurt or is in foul trouble.

Jim,
If we could play 9 at a time, we might stand a chance in some of these games!

Well that is hard to decide with this team because of how inconsistent they are and I don't get to see them in practice. If I had to pick just going off the games I would play 8 guys and go with Paige, Strickland, Bullock, McAdoo, Johnson, Hairston, McDonald, and depending on what kind of team I was playing James, Tokoto, or Hubert. I would rather see Tokoto or Hairston play the four and go small more then see James or Hubert out there but sometimes you don't have that option. I think James has a lot of potential but he is struggling big time right now. Hubert is playing a little better then James but I don't see Hubert getting a whole lot better going forward. We need a star back to the basket big man but unfortuantly we don't have that this year.

Reading this BS is hilarious. Call yourselves "UNC Fans"? This is why you don't overreact on a young team in early January.
