when massive debt is run up by a repub president, it was the d's in congress who caused it

when deficits are smaller when a d is in the whitehouse, all the credit goes to the r congress

when massive debt is run up with an r congress and r pres, it's bawney fwanks fault

when Obama takes over an economy on the brink of disaster, here and globally, it'd a d's fault for not fixing the staggering debacle that was our economy quicker

How long before r's started blaming everything bad in our economy on Obama?  Oh you say it started before he ever took office?

so we were losing 750,000 jobs a month at the end of w's 2nd term, Obama is the food stamp president for giving assistance to people who couldn't find work    when 750,000 people a month were losing their jobs, that created more debt   taxes not collected, benefits being given out

Dec 2012 marked the lowest unemployment rate since 2008

but no matter  nothing's getting better  well except for employment,the stock market and new housing starts

and all that progress could be undone by screwing around with the debt ceiling, and also allowing everybody's taxes going up

Here's what  I dont get   the r's, especially the tea party, whine incessantly about how raising taxes on the wealthy will stunt economic growth

This is not the time to be raising taxes

But then they want to allow everybody"s taxes to go up if it means raising taxes on the rich

Do they not realize that the taxes on the rich are going to go up, once the tax cuts expire?

So, like little children, they pout and make everybody's taxes go up, even though they say this is not the time to raise taxes

so a question    which will cause the greatest harm to the economy?  2% of people's taxes going up, or 100%?

I can see your point on taxes...however, the same could have been said about healthcare...why mess up the whole system to accomodate 20-30 million people? How did that make sense?

We now have the Obama tax increase...we also had the tax holiday expire....I'll ask again here...what are your expectations for the economy now that he got his way?

The r's say...we will compromise and give in to a tax on the upper class...in return, we want meaningful spending cuts. The left says no way and even insert more deals for corporations and add a little more crony capitalism...

Sandy relief package put together by the left is full of pork and pet projects. What should have been 45b turns into 61b. Once presented, Boehner says...NO WAY...this isn't a relief package...its another example why Washington is broken. The left goes to the mountain and shouts...those damn r's don't care about hurricane victims...accurate or not?

Debt deal...president says he isn't going to discuss it. The r's say...yes, you will and we are going to force you to face the spending problem. The president in turn says..."We don't have a spending problem"? hmm

The left is only concerned with two things...confiscating more wealth and re-distributing into more entitlement programs...

This is like a childish tantrum, "if I can't have my way, then everyone should pay"! (even though R's are against taxes going up on the top 2% and warn that this will hurt the recovering economy, they were willing to let taxes go up for everyone?).

You know what would have been rationale? To say, "OK Mr. President, you have us over a barrel here and even though we disagree with you, for the greater good, we won't let taxes go up for everyone. We'll be back to fight another day when the circumstances are more favorable."

This proves that their stance against increased taxes has nothing to do with principle. House R's are an unpricpled bunch of carnival barkers, clowns and reprobates.

That is 100% false.  The R's say - we will compromise on the tax for upper class and we want spending cuts - BUT we refuse to tell you what cuts we want, and instead, are going to stonewall until you offer up those cuts for us, because we are too big of political pus$ies to suggest direct cuts to Medicare and SS, because old people vote a lot.

The R's wanted to be the party that didn't have to make any tough choices.  They wanted the democrats to be the party advocating for both tax increases (unpopular) and entitlement cuts (unpopular), so that they didn't have to carry any of the associated political baggage.

Uh... you left out that there were tons of NE Republicans that were hollering about this too.  Perhaps you should go see what Rep. Peter King had to say about the GOP shooting down this bill.  Same for Chris Christie...

Btw - the relief package wasn't even put together by the left.  It was put together in the HOUSE, which is controlled by the GOP, and had lot's of GOP input.  It was created by both parties.  Again, check out what Peter King had to say about it - including how much time he spent working on the bill...

Maybe he did, maybe he didn't.  The only "record" of Obama saying this is that Boehner told some guy writing a piece for the WSJ that Obama said that. 

Just curious - if it was Obama claiming that Boehner said something, how quickly would you disregard it?  I'm betting less than 2 seconds.

agree but I am pretty sure that money for Alaskan fisheries was not a left idea.  Too much pork by dems and repubs just as they have done on every "emergency" bill.

Boehner says...NO WAY 

Boehner and the right always wait until the last minute to reject it.  Instead of going on vacation, Boehner should have gone to conference and hammer it out even about the repub pork.  No, he doesn't like to stand up to anyone and just rejects anything.

Debt deal... 

Debt Ceiling and, yes, it has to happen so Obama doesn't see the need to talk about it.  We have already had spending cuts and finally increased tax revenue.  So let's talk about sequestration.  Obama is willing but the right wants cuts before the discussion.  Are they so bad in discussions that they can only use frivolous threats?  I believe that their arguments are so weak that they prefer not discussing them.  Sorta like asking a repub what his/her pro-life views mean.
