Did ya'll seriously think ND could compete w/SECJanuary 10, 2013 8:32 pm
I agree with much of what you say but, again, what you are not taking into account is the SEC team often gets the benefit of the doubt due to the polls, and gets a shot at the title every year.
I would say that the last few years the SEC has ALWAYS gotten the benefit of the doubt. I won't disagree with that at all. Sometimes 2 shots. It can be argued the last 2 Bama teams, Fla. in 2006 and LSU in 2007 were not the most deserving to be in the game. I also agree that Bama last year had no business in that game when they had already lost to LSU. Don't jump down my throat Bama fans, it's just my opinion with the way that the system has worked since it's inception AND because a great Michigan team didn't get that same second chance after losing by 3 on the road. Leading to me absolutely agreeing also that Florida shouldn't have been in that game. Florida was probably the most inconsistant champ I've ever seen. when LSU got in with 2 losses there were like 4 or 5 other teams that could have also had that chance. At the end of the day though all of these teams that "didn't belong" won the game. You can't take it away fromn them. I watched it happen, well, except for Bama's win last year. As for OSU.....Fla. did manhandle them, but can we be sure losing their best offensive weapon on the first play didn't play a nhuge part? At the very least, it's a better excuse than saying they just didn't want to be there. As for the LSU loss, I believe that game was much closer than many believe. OSU had a 10-point lead, missed a FG, and had a TD wiped away by a questionable call. To me, only difference in the game was the play of the QBs. Switch them, and OSU wins going away. I actually thought OSU would win that game, not that I lost any sleep over it or anything!! It's still shocking how it played out. Yes, losing Ginn was huge but OSU was more than Ginn. Most of all they were defense and the defense got pasted. Troy Smith was a Heisman winner, the QBs shouldn't have had to be switched. Florida was more physical, better prepared, better coached and they were tired of hearing about not belonging in that game. OSU I think believed that they won when they stepped in the stadium. they beleived that they beat Michigan by 3 for the championship. |

No question, Tampa. My only arguement has been you have to be given a chance to play the game in order to win. They definitely took care of business when given the opportunity. As for OSU.....Fla. did manhandle them, but can we be sure losing their best offensive weapon on the first play didn't play a nhuge part? Most of all they were defense and the defense got pasted. Very true about the D, however, I believe their gameplan centered around Ginn, and he has to be accounted for on every play. Makes a huge difference Troy Smith was a Heisman winner, the QBs shouldn't have had to be switched. Was talking about the LSU game. Boeckman was awful, and Flynn is an NFL QB. Florida was more physical, better prepared, better coached and they were tired of hearing about not belonging in that game. OSU I think believed that they won when they stepped in the stadium. they beleived that they beat Michigan by 3 for the championship. I don't disagree with this at all. |
