Agree with Adrian; if Morris didn't get in this year, he won't get in next year with Maddux, Glavine and maybe Frank Thomas locks.
Since we're picking the next Tigers HOFer, I went with Leyland simply because he'll be retired long before Cabrera or Verlander. Leyland gets a lot more respect outside Detroit, the opposite problem that Trammell and Whitaker have. Gibson won't get in as a player. Wouldn't bet against Prince Fielder, but he will need longetivity. Doesn't look like the type that will last, but Babe Ruth was no fitness cover model either. Besides, I thnk he could beat most of us in a race around the bases--and I mean those of us that can still run 360 feet without collapsing. |

I guess I somewhat understand why some voters don't want to make certain players First Ballot HOF'ers, but someone please explain why you might get in on your 6th try, or 11th, or 14th? I'm sure there's not much voter turnover year to year. You boys are smart...enlighten me. I think it's dumb. You deserve it or you don't.
