At this stage in the season? Playing like Sparty played tonight? ugh. My last straw "theory" explaining this group's performance(s) to-date is that they play to the calibre of the competition. How weak is that? Guess we'll test that theory when Tosu comes to town on Saturday, eh? Gad...going head-to-head with Nebraska (Nebraska? for crying out loud, without it's best player? ugh. like Iowa, without it's best player? ugh.) for 38 minutes? No rythym...no flow...lazy telegraphed passes...flat footed, lumbering oxen ball...raining bricks. ugh.
Every time Gauna comes in the anncrs say: "Because he's put in lots of hard work, according to Izzo." What'd he get tonight...3 minutes? Byrd must be the hardest working guy on the team. WTH does Izzo see in the guy? He's an liability as soon as he hits the floor. Is Costello hurt? Speaking of hurt, seems like every minute of every game carries a bullet to be dodged by both Dawson and Harris.
If Sparty has trouble chewing fat...how will they handle muscle?

I agree re: Byrd. I have seen nothing in the year and a half he has been there to make me think he should get more playing time. Hell, He was getting as much time as Kearney and performing less. Can we get him to transfer someplace? LCC might let him play.

Ryan in his own way is like Izzo. He doesn't often, if ever, get those 5 start recruits. What he does do with them is get them to buy into his defense/fundamentals first system and he has had a strong performing team every year. If there is any coach in the conference that I would be concerned going head to head with on any given night, it would be Ryan more than any other. I could care less what kind of talent Matta or Crean get or that place down the road. Pure coaching ability to get the most out of the players on the floor Ryan is scarey good.

Sparty, I'm still thinking, can go head-to-head with the extreme 5* talent fielded by Kansas, IU and the "prettyboy jumpshooters" from scUM...seems it's the blue collar gritplay teams from OSU, WIS, MINNY and IOWA that we have a tough time figuring out. Nitts tonight, Bucks on Saturday and Buckys next TU. I'd just like to see our Michigan Snakes kick the Pennsylvania Snakes' tails off tonight...one good beatdown before the scheduled alley fights begin would be nice, eh? go forth and be Greenish! |

Unless you play bo ryan in the tournament. Then hes not even close to izzo.....sorry i was rooting for crean and IU. I hate wisky as much as scUM. Was a great win tho. I sure didnt see that one coming.

Yeah tonights the last chance for a comfortable blow out before we really start hitting the beef of our schedule. Gonna be scary with this team. Sure hope the dawsen payne issue is just horseplay gone too far....we dont need another year of inside turmoil.

BTN put up the upcoming schedule for the snakes' next five games during Izzo's 200th B1G win tonight. MSU plays four nationally ranked teams (#11 OSU; #2 IU; #23 ILL and #9 MINN)...haha...and the number one team in the B1G (WIS.) Holy shizzlesticks, that's just nuts! I think we have a chance to team up and beat OSU, ILL and MINN @ the Brez...but I don't think we take either IU or WIS on the road. Wouldn't surprise me to see four or five losses though...a scarey thought re: team spirit through the rest of the season.
Qs: Why aren't we crashing inside? Why does post play always look East/West instead of towards the hoop? Why don't Appling, Trice and Valentine ever look for the give/go to our bigs fading inside? (they were wide open all night.) Why did the anncrs repeat the 2010 Byrd mantra when he sunk his first trey in 6 games ("the kid's got such a pure shot" shizzle) but don't mention his gawdawful lead-footed D? Hang on tight chirrens...s'gonna be a really rough ride from here on out. gone greening. |

Looks like Odysseus (Izzo) just re-took Ithaca (the Bres) from Agelaus and the suitors (Matta and the Buckeyes, who won their previous two visits at the Bres).
