I suppose I can see how someone could get scammed online for the reasons you mentioned Wolfy but I don't think he was scammed at all, even though he is claiming to be. The more I hear about this story the more I believe he was part of it. For a reason I don't get yet at this point, I think he and maybe one of his buddies came up with this to get headlines for his Heisman run perhaps. It's all very bizarre.
I've heard some clips of him in interviews with Jim Rome or on CBS Morning after his fake girlfriend's passing. He claims he was on the phone with her every night praying.. ok who was he talking to then? Then he said her "brother" called him to say she had passed away - so who is this brother? He never went to see the gravesight if she was the "love of his life"? There are several holes in his story that I could go on about and I'm no investigator. This story won't go away and the press are going to have a field day at his expense.
In any case, his draft stock value will plummet a la Vontaze Burfict proportions.
