I really think Joeckel would be the pick here. I don't care if Herremens and Peters return healthy, you can never have too many offensive tackles. If they're all healthy at once, we can move Herremens back inside. Plus Peters may never again be the same player he was after injury.

Good cornerbacks can be found in later rounds, although there are the occassional shut down studs that emerge like Revis as really good prospects. Plus, for all of the crap you guys give him, Asomugha is still a good player who can be great if used in the right scheme. Same goes for Rogers-Cromartie. If you have a defensive coordinator who doesn't know how to design blitzes and the opposing QB has all day to throw, then your cornerbacks will look bad no matter who it is.

What scheme is right? Last year he played zone and sucked. So everyone said "Awwww poor Nnamdi that's not his best scheme. Let him play press-man and he'll be a stud again!!"

He played press-man this year and was terrible, but every definition of the word. So what scheme is it now?

And as for DRC, there's no scheme that overcomes no heart.

I think you hit it on the head Bis, these guys need fresh starts somewhere else, (unless Kelly hires a D man that can coach them up big time)

I think Bish's statement about heart applys more so to Asomugha.  It's kinda ironic.  The Eagles ran 22 out of town because he couldn't or wouldn't tackle.  Asomugha wants nothing to do with contact anymore and is playing like football is a secondary career to something else (hollywood, politics)

I think Asomugha either needs to go or take a substantial pay cut.  As for DRC, the guy can play and excels in off coverage against speed recievers.  The problem is that some of the fastest guys are also some of the biggest and most physical, something DRC does not excell in.  In either situation I don't think either of these guys is a keeper unless we have great safety help.

On to the next dillema.  Help at S.  Elam and Rambo are both great options but realistically we can only have one.  I'm going with Elam and I think he fits best at SS.  FS has to be Chung or Delmas in FA.  Neither one will be easy to pry away from their respective teams but IMO they are the only ones that are complete enough to play FS.  I think we would all be pleasantly surprised how much solid S play would benefit the corners we think suck.

Of course none of the conversations that we are having matter at all until we find out who the DC will be and what scheme he will run.

In any case we still need help on the O-line. Even if Peters, Herrimans, and Kelce all come back heathly and play well, we still need a contigency plan.  I think Brandon Albert makes the most sense here.  He can play either tackle position and either G position so he offers flexibility in a number of ways.

Here's a question I've been wondering though.  With all this Teo scandle crap going around,  how much could he drop in the draft?  We have seen quite a few good players drop signifigantly in the draft and some even go undrafted because of things like this.   Anyone think he drops out of the first all together?

What about Reid from LSU.  He declared after his junior year.  The guy plays violent as hell but needs to be coached up.  Bites on play action and misses a tackle here and there, but considered by most to be better than Elam or Rambo.  Seen mocks where he's slotted around 20-30 of the first round.

I would love to have Reid. Although those character issues will push him out of the first for sure. I would have no problem with the birds grabbing him in the second round.

I don't like him near as much as Elam, Vaccaro or Rambo though. I watched a few LSU games this year and he seemed out of position all the time.

This kid can play ball. sure he didnt look good during the National Championship game, ( but who the hell does against Bama) a MLB succeeds when there is a front four that "eats up space",  I've going back and forth with Scuba, Bish and of course Weapon cause the simple fact the "value" during the top five pick doesnt work out as a MLB, but lets face it these guys are rare, and do ( if picked correctly) can be a huge insert in any defense, and lets face it the Eagles have missed this postion for years...

Why would you spend a top 5 pick on someone who is just going to get eaten up by better teams? You can get someone in the 5th or 6th round that can do the same thing.

I'm an ND fan, so it's not like I'm biased against him. Te'o has some issues, and that was before this whole fake girlfriend business. Te'o is great when you make space for him, but if the DL can't eat up the blockers, then he can get swallowed up by better competition.

And it will always be a value thing. You just don't see MLBs go that high. There's a reason for that.

If Patrick Willis and Luke Kuechly aren't top 5 picks then no way in hell that Te'o is. You don't reach because of need. That's how you get the Jaiqwan Jarrett's of the world on your team.

Funny and true. Last year was the first time in awhile that the Eagles weren't consistently reaching for their system players on every pick. The results were predictably better than in the prior 2 years.

Relax I know for "value" I'm not taken a MLB with that #4 pick, what I was saying was if somone did, and that player turned out to be a say a 12 yr starter that won a couple titles, lead the league in tackles and anchored your bad arse defense that whole time then im my eyes that reach was a steal!

Okay lets not go over board here, I think Russell Wilson is going to be a great QB in the NFL, ( I believe I was bragging about him during the draft last year and some posters made fun of me) but Foles has the stronger arm. Want ever offense Kelly decides to run, Foles can play in the NFL ( Truth insert comment here)    he would be a idiot by not giving Foles his full attention...

Certainly not me.  I have seen in person Russell Wilson shread us for over 500 yards of offense one saturday.  I think Russell would certainly fit Kelly's offense better than Foles.

This will make you happy but I keep hearing things that Chip Kelly could possibly have his eye on E.J. Manuel. I have to DVR todays senior bowl, but I'll watch it tomorrow and I'm really looking forward to how well Manuel performs.

In fact it makes me throw up in my mouth a bit.  Here is anaysis of 4 years of EJ.  All the talent in the world, all the football intellegence of Quincy Carter.  EJ made the same mistakes as a senior as he did as a freshman, in fact he graduly regressed.  Coming up to the line, he had problems recognizing the defense and changing the play.  He constantly missed wide open recievers and he made the worst decisions in crucial moments.  Instead of throwing the ball away, or taking a 3 yard sack, he some how turned it into a 15 yard sack.

Check out his play on 3rd and 1 on the NC State 23 yard line....keep in mind a FG ices the game (we are up by 6).  The only thing that loses us that game is if our senior QB takes a 13 yard sack and puts us out of FG range.  Keep in mind the odds of Hopkins making a 40 yard FG are probably above 90 percent.

For the love of god I hope this does not happen.  I dont care how bad our FSU's QB is next year, I honestly could not take one more year of EJ.

It's really hard to bring up coaching as an excuse.  Same QB coach that turned Jamarcus Russell into  the first overall pick and Ponder into the 14th overall pick.  Neither one of those guys has the physical gifts of EJ and somehow Fisher pulled the wool over the the NFL's eyes.

You think Mike Vick's poor decisions made you mad???  Wait for EJ's!!

I watched only a small portion of the senior bowl so far but I did see him have a gigantic TE from Alabama wide open over the middle, standing still and Manuel threw it at his feet. Gave me McNabb flashbacks.

Foles has a lot of talent.  He isn't a runner but he does know how to avoid pressure by moving around.  I was hoping the Eagles would pick up Kellen Moore last year (see my avatar).  He has a strong and accurate arm and knows how to play the game.  Heck he even burned Kelly twice.

Kellen Moore strong arm?  Uhhhhhh....not sure who you were watching.  He mzy have as much knowledge as any qb in the NFL about how to be a great QB, but he has an extremely weak arm.
