Marquess Wilson is a twig, but is productive. His counterpart at Oregon State Markus Wheaton, much smaller, will probably make the better pro, he looked very solid at the Senior Bowl.
I would not say that Keenan Allen is impossible at 17. LIke every draft, you can find WR and RB in any round. QB and LT, not so much. This forces teams to reach, leapfrog, etc.., Teams that already have the QB and LT can sit back and take the fallers, or trade and get more picks. I cannot predict who will be the best WR in this class, but my man Cordarelle Patterson, barring injury, is going to improve the team that picks him. |

Would anybody be dissapointed if the first 2 days went like this:
1 - Keenan Allen, WR, Cal 2 - Eric Reid, S, LSU 3 - Marcus Lattimore, RB, S. Carolina I fills a definite need at WR, and future needs at S and RB. Now granted, Lattimore may not be ready to go this upcoming season. A year off could get him completely healthy and a year to learn Haley's playbook. |

1 - Keenan Allen, WR, CalHard to answer without seeing who else is available but I can tell you I would be disappointed if we spent a 3rd round pick on a guy who had two major knee injuries in his last two seasons. I'd rather trade back to the late 3rd and grab Gillislee or Taylor. |

Any of Yuins ever check out [www.draftmetrics.com]? A very interesting statistical view of the NFL draft over the last ten years in yesterdays post. Many of you will be shocked by the findings and data!

Is it me or does anyone else see the Chiefs taking Tyrann Mathieu ? Eric Berry is a good mentor and a former Tiger. I see Lattimore in the 4th, some team will gamble. Ansah to the Giants, imagine him on the opposite side of JPP? Te'o to Baltimore. Bengals take Ogletree put him ext to Burfict, Texans take Minter. Ravens really don't need much other than ILB and OC.

Actually bites, Eric Berry went to Tennessee not LSU and as for Marquess Wilson he adds 15-20 lbs hitting the weights he can be a good one, if you saw the highlights loved the one grab in the end zone when he caught it in traffic at its high point against Oregon.

Whats more realistic for the Cinci TE Kelce NFLDraftScout or DraftTek 2 very different projections on where he'll go in the draft, DraftScout has him ranked 99 going in the 3rd/4th DraftTek has him ranked 200 and going in the 6th/7th rds?

Roc,
Draftek is not as reliable, but Draftscout also misses just the same. Example I bought into Davon House as a second rounder a few drafts ago, Draftscout had him rated in the 50's-60's, in actuality he went at the end of the fourth behind Cortez Allen. Where I think Draftscout whiffs is the DL, they either over-value or under-value players, nothing in the middle, Alameda Ta'amu comes to mind. RIght now the best example is Margus Hunt, no way he is an early second round pick. If someone does take him in the 30's, it's reaching at least a round and a half. He had a great bowl game, I drank half a glass of the Kool-Aid, but in the Senior Bowl he was exposed. Compared to Esekial Ansah, Hunt does not have as upside, motor, will, etc.., Again, Spencer Nealy I think, been wrong before, is a 5-6th rounder, like draftek has, but Draftscout has him 7th-Undrafted. Remember a few years back I liked Brandon Deaderick, he starts for Hoodie. I also like Marcus Kuhn and JR Sweezy out of NC State in April, both doing rather well, I have luck on the DL more than any other position as far as late round sleepers. One guy me and Mano missed on in 2008 was Brian Johnston, he was 6-5, 275 and ran a 4.68, but he couldn't play and got cut by the Chiefs. I guess I am saying buyer beware, the combine is just a measuring device. To answer your question, I think the TE out of Rice was hyped up too much by Mayock, he bobbled a lot of catches, they will be stripped or dropped in the NFL. The kid out of TN, Mychal Rivera had a nice game, he will most likely go undrafted because of his size, but teams looking ot copy the Patriots, will see the next Aaron Herndandez. I like Kelce over Willams, but only by a round. Kelce in the 4th, Williams in the 5th. The coaches seem to like Paulson, DJ Johnson is due back from injury, Heath Miller is the wild card. I think Kelce will help the passing game, and Williams will really improve the running game. Right now "scout" has them ranked 99 an 180, that's almost 3 full rounds, not buying it. If you are looking for a kid with upside, low risk, the "other" TE out of Stanford is worth a look, Levine Toilolo, kid has some real size, and his production, although not awesome, is not bad considering they targeted Ertz all the time. THe one red flag is that his blocking needs work, that is why I am totally onboard with rarebreed, Michael Williams in the 5th and a RB in the 4th would do a lot for the Steelers running game. For those looking to replace Chris Rainey, Colbert just signed Kashif Moore, a similar player that might stick. He has speed to burn and could be your 5th WR and a KR, I watched him play at UConn. nyb |

One of the big 3, in my draft guru list, had an interesting bit on CBS sports tv.
http://www.cbssports.com/video/play er/play/profootball_360/ZVbAaYrQrAa h/steelers-draft-picks Pat Kirwin discusses the pick at 17. He has some really good points and he pairs up with Billy Devaney, former NFL GM of the Rams. Kirwin's take is Jesse Williams, "he's a Steeler" and Devaney really likes Vacarro. The other 2 names they came up with are Chance Warmack and Kevin Minter. Don't forget Colbert's board is nothing like scout, tek, or ours for that matter. Minter is a strong inside player who moves way better than Te'o. He had quite a few TLF, handful of sacks, and a boatload of tackles overall playing in the SEC. THose guys foucs on D and the cap, they think Hampton is gone, they cannot afford Wallace, and Harrison is on the outside looking in. Polamalu was not mentioned directly, but they hinted around his age and how it's time to refresh the roster with new blood. My take is this, get a playmaker on D early, depth in the middle of the draft, hopefully we get a comp pick, and then projects late. Whoever they get, I want to see turnovers. THe other thing I would like to see Colbert look at is fixing the offense. Zone blocking is coming in 2013, bank on it, or some form of it regardless, you guys get my point. I look at the #1 overall Defense in the NFL and then the 23rd ranked Offense. Love the TE in round 4 or 5, the Steelers have not had a great dual threat combo since Eric Greene and Adrian Cooper, unfortuantely they had Neil F. O'Donnell throwing to them. Here is my mock, go ahead and rip it apart. But if you shred it, have an alternate pick or positive suggestions. I read the comments in Walter Football, and they are juvenille for the most part. "Walt you suck"., "no way" etc... like they could run a sports site by themselves.... sure. 1. Chance Warmack 2. Matt Elam 3. Logan Ryan 4. Marcus Wheaton 5. Christine Michael 5C. Michael Williams 6. Spencer Nealy 7. Greg Blair this is tougher than it looks. Passing on guys I really like: Vacarro, Allen, Minter, Kelce, Wilcox, Webb, Lacy, Greene, Cypriun, Gillislee, Franklin, Williams (X2) |

Jeezus, does Draftek read this thread, seriously, not taking credit or making a joke. They just changed the Steelers 5th round pick to Spencer Nealy...... on second thought they still have Travis Kelce going at the end of round 7.

Zone blocking makes sense if Beachum, Pouncey and DeCastro are your interior linemen. All move very well and the first two are a little light in the pants. Anyone seen Pouncey lately? He looks like a linebacker. On some level that has to concern the Steelers.

Graham mid-6th sure, too many other backs I like 3-5th round range: (in order) Michael, Taylor, Gillisee, Franklin . I really like Michael Williams, rarebreed's sleeper TE, to come in from day one and bulldoze paths next to Mike Adams. Adams was the reason the running game peaked, and then dropped off.

I don't think they can afford to get rid of Troy just like that without anyone behind him, I think they'll at least keep him a couple more years, I don't think Troy started right away in Lebeau's defense so whoever they draft will need time to learn the system.

Ok guys here I go, I will post what I think in around about way a group of players I think the Steelers will be picking from in each round. Feel free to comment. I am posting this from my IPad so of course paragraphs don't exist. This will be in no particular order. 1) Kevin Minter ILB LSU 2) Alec Ogletree ILB Georgia 3) Kenny Vacarro SS Texas 4) Jonathan Jenkins NT Georgia 5) Chance Warmack OG Alabama 6) Cordarrelle Patterson WR Tennessee 7) Datone Jones DE UCLA Question for you guys, In your minds Has Datone really done that much to vault himself into the middle to late first round? He doesn't have a lot of great tape but played great in the Senior Bowl.
