I did catch the last two minutes of the SB, and after it ended, I was able to change the channel without seeing any ray ray.    That's all that mattered to me.

Speaking of propping up players as Super Duper Awesome, NBC, NHL network, TSN, should quit throwing around so much lofty praise so early in the season.   It's stupid and half the players are going to be injured and miss too much time to be eligible for the big awards anyway.

Feaster threw himself out of a suite again...and lived again.   Poor guy.

I'm really looking forward to SJ and ANA tonight.    Not sure how much ANA is overachieving.

Tough loss for the Wings with Smith.   At least the injury doesn't seem too serious.    I tend to think a week off here and there is good for the rookies.    If they are struggling and never have time to really think about what needs to change or what needs to be tweaked, I think playing everyday only makes things worse.   Coaches can only do so much.    I think this injury will end up being a good thing for the Wings assuming he's only out for 2 weeks or less.

Nice to see NHL.com put up a story about the instigator rule and it's history, especially the part about WHO put the instigator rule in place and WHO lessened the penalty for instigation.

I didn't expect the Habs to go on a run like this.

Buffalo can score a ton and can beat people up,  wonder when they'll fix everything else.    Scott and Parros decided to fight yesterday, I didn't think they would go it, they did.    Two Dreadnoughts going at it.    I hope Cutter caught it.

From 2009, Scott dominated:

From yesterday, Parros look like he took a couple more hits but should get the win, we'll see how hockeyfights.com votes later:

I wish him well but honestly, this isn't going to be the straw the breaks the camel's back for the Wings.  After Kronwall and Ericsson the defense is such a mess it almost doesn't matter anymore who they slot in there.   Now if Datsyuk or Zetterberg are out for any length of time at all that would be a different story.    As we sit right now in the Wings 4 wins this season they've scored 4 or more goals in each of those games.  And in most of those wins they pretty well needed every one of the goals they scored to win the game.  I don't imagine much is going to change anytime soon.   I think in many games the Wings will need to score 4 goals to win the game or at the very least 3 in regulation time.   Anything less then that won't result in points too often.

I wish they would have flipped the circuit breaker on the halftime show (superbowl).

Garth's plan is coming to fruition, Visnovsky is supposed to arrive Wed (fully motivated).

I don't think Gillis was there (Was) about Luongo/Schneider.  I think he was looking at Ribeiro as a possible rental.

A reporter from the Washington Times who covers the Caps I believe said something similar, he said there wasn't any truth to the rumors that Gillis was there to scout and/or talk to the Caps about Luongo.  But Gillis was not asked if trading Schneider was a consideration at all, from what i understand he only responsed to the Luongo rumors.   Personally I still believe him being there had something to do with one of his goalies.   The Canucks don't have a lot of needs and I don't see them trading any of their top 6 or top 4 dmen.   So if he wasn't there for anything revolving around his goalies,  why was Gillis there?

Chicago has stopped production on the pp.

The Brits found a king in a parking lot.   That's kind of cool, I'm going to start looking under potholes instead of watching the Cubs this summer.

Were there any SB commercials I should look up?   I can't bring myself to do the top 5 lists that almost always disappoint.

I've decided to start a hate group against anybody that shoots school bus drivers.   I don't really plan on doing much in the way of action, but I'm going hate them.

Nothing to get man, woman are just weird.   My wife can't sit through any sporting event but DVR a few touchdown celebrations and she'll get some popcorn, sit down and spend an hour watching people do stupid things in the endzone.  And yeah, she loves the Superbowl commercials ( just about the only time I actually get the upstairs tv is Superbowl Sunday) and even though she doesn't like Beyonce AT ALL she sat through the entire halftime show because she said Beyonce's lights and whole setup was cool".

TD celebrations, commercials and half time show.  That's all it's about for her.   A great play or great hit in the game?  Not so much...

I just dont understand how someone can get excited to watch advertisements.

I met her sister's boyfriend yesterday for the 1st time. Right off the bat, "Im psyched for the commercials. Hope they have another awesome one like the Budweiser clydesdales."  I knew at that exact moment that this guy wasn't my cup of tea. Im psyched for the commercials?

Yeah that really is unbelievable to say the least.   With today's DVR's you'd think advertisers would understand people can use that time to do something else.  Just click on pause, come back and fast forward through the commercials.   Then again after reading about Matty's possible future brother in law maybe people really do pay attention to the commercials more then I thought.  Wow.   Surprised

I understand the Audi's and Ford's of the world spending 4 million dollars.  They battle over market share and in that industry 4 million dollars is really nothing and easily accessible.  But here's where I get confused.  How many pistachios do you have to sell to recoup 4 million dollars?

A bag of their pistachios is about $13 for a pound. There are about 500 shelled pistachios in that bag.

4,000,000 / 13 =   307692 bags of pistachios x 500 = 153,846,000 pistachios.

then of course comes their expenses...

so no less than 153,846,001 pistachios

most of the SB commercials were lame or worse.  i did like the Go Daddy "Big Idea"... not the nerd kissing Bar Rafaeli, although watching her do anything (even turd cutting) would be pleasing to the ol' glassies.  the Kia "Hot Bot" was silly/funny and so was the Oreo "Whisper Fight".  like i said, my wife is in the advertising business, so i actually paid attention. RedH, i was also making the Kim Jong Il reference on the pistachio spot (2 geniuses: you & me).  the Clydesdale commercial was bit of a tear jerker, not Old Yellar level, but it was defintely a softie.  the best things about the SB was hitting 2 plays that earned $1200, Pittsburgh is still 6-Burgh... and NO MOAR RAY LEWIS!  aaaaaaaahahahaha!!!

the pistachio commercial was good, but what polished it smooth was kim jong il riding the giant pistachio like a bronco and smacking it's ass at the very end.

Yeah. Pistachios are unbelievable... I love them.  BUT, I refuse to get ripped off so if they're not on sale I don't buy them.  I love sweets so I'd rather buy a big bag of stuff that's bad for you for 5 or 6 bucks then a puny bag of stuff that's bad for you for the same money.
