I just can't even imagine having an emotional stake in that game the way it went down. Flying high, football boner protruding proudly after the 109 yard run back seemed to indicate wire-to-wire domination...and then...blackout? And worse, total change in momentum where the big lead it all but wiped out? I mean, I'm from Boston, I've been through collapses like that and I would have put my fraking face through the TV. How awesome though to pull it out after all that. |

How awesome though to pull it out after all that. It's really funny. I was watching the game at a buddy's house about 35 minutes from where I live and I was so emotionally exhausted from watching the game it was ridiculous, but when I got home I was so pumped up that I couldn't fall asleep until 1 in the morning lol I took off yesterday so I'll miss the parade and festivities downtown today. Now it's time to buy all the memorabelia crap for this SB to put in my new man cave next to the crap from SB 35 hahaha. |

Congrats on the win, Shick. The Ravens were at the top all year, and were always the team in the AFC to beat. With Lewis gone and Reed gone soon, this team has shifted from mind-blowing defense to a more balanced team with a good offense.
And good luck with the house. If it's in Baltimore, remember to clean thoroughly after you move in, since the walls and floors are probably oozing with venereal disease... |

I'm moving from Anne Arundel County. Reisterstown to be exact. Now I've been told that I don't have to convert to Judaism to live there, but it sure does help lol. |

On Sukkot, you can bounce a single rubber ball endlessly off all the tents set up peoples' backyards.I guess that's better than the annual SWAP meets in Patterson Park. |

The Ravens were the AFC to beat on paper before the season that's for sure. Unfortunately that didn't translate onto the field so well with all the injuries on Defense and the questionable play calling on Offense. Thankfully everything righted itself in time for the playoffs and the rest is history.
Unsurprisingly, in Vegas the Broncos and Patriots are already the favorites to go to the SB in 2014. |

The good news is that the rest of the division is still kinda poo-poo. It remains to be seen if Cincy can repeat their surprising performance with Andy Dalton. Pittsburgh is rebuilding both offense and defense and Cleveland is eternally doomed. |

it seems like clockwork that the superbowl winner comes out of the wild card these days. its so consistant at this point id almost root for my team to lose the division lol

How many stories within a story was there in this Baltimore Ravens win. It was Ray Lewis' last game, Veteran Ed Reed's first super bowl, Art Modell passed away this season so the Ravens "were inspired because of that", Joe Flacco wins on the year he is a free agent. The Ravens start playing well on offense after their offensive coordinator Cam Cameron is fired. Torrey Smith lost his brother this season, considering everything I am pleased that The Ravens won.

Well, it was either Baltimore or Denver. And I think most observers could tell that Denver didn't have a reliable running game or even mediocre receivers, and wouldn't be good down the stretch. So the Texans, who curb stomped the ravens at one point, were never favored over them? Or the 2nd seed in the SFC Patriots? The Ravens fell off and it looked like they were gonna scrape by and make the playoffs, but no one thought they were the favorite in the AFC all season. They did what the Giants did in 07 and last year or what the Packers did in 2010. or what the Steelers did in 2005. They got hot at the end of the season and won the Super Bowl. |

They got hot at the end of the season and won the Super Bowl. The same Houston Texans who lost hardcore to Green Bay in Week 6 or Minnesota in Week 15 ? The same New England Patriots who got outplayed by Arizona in Week 2 ? The NFL season is one of balance. Trying to judge the performance of a team, let alone the one that eventually won the World Championship, based off of a single game or two is foolish. The Texans were unable to compete with a deteriorating defense. The Patriots had hodge-podge offense all year and a weak secondary. Yeah, getting hot at the right time is key to advancing in the postseason in any sport. But a well-balanced team is what is necessary for sustained success. I'm no great fan of Baltimore, but they put together a great team with few virtuoso parts, but no real weaknesses either. |
