Raiders more in salary cap purgatory, not hell

Good article Fresh. I've seen pretty much the same thing only the total cap number doesnt add up from the various sites. Those 10 are the focus of what may happen and I pretty much agree with the diagnosis if you will.

This week is gonna be very interesting because as I've been hammering on about the CBA that was just signed last year stated that teams have a 5 day window from the end of the season to trade away players without penalty. The team that traded for the player would inheritate the bonus aspects of the contracts and so on. This is ultra important for teams that are in the kind of trouble the Raiders where in last year such as the Jets this year.

Huff has re worked his deal twice since re signing and with doing so he has gained more guaranteed money which makes it near impossible to cut or trade him. Not only do I think he is safe this year but I think he is safe for next year as well.

Branch on the other hand IDK. 3.5 M more gets triggered in guarantees for this year if he is on the team by March 5th or 16th I cant remember which date. But if they cut their losses now, sure they would be taking a hit but wouldn't have to pay close to 6 or 7 M of future guaranteed money. And his base salary is at 6 for this up and coming year the highest of any year.

Palmer IDK what they can do with his contract since he like Huff has re structured his deal twice since being here. Thats more and more guarantees. Hes a guy that they may try and take advantage of that 5 day window to try and trade if they feel its more advantageous to get the cap relief than the compensation they would get in return.

The same could be true for McFadden. Is the cap aleviation more advantageious than the compensation?

I think Sebass very well could be traded across the Bay and they may not worry about taking on the penalty so that they could get perhaps better compensation.

McClain's contract is gonna void at least the bonus aspect which is the important aspect of his contract. Im positive the Raiders have filed the neccassary paperwork and or complaints about what a douche this guy has been on and off the field and will be able to get that money at least from a cap standpoint recovered.

No way around it DHB wont be here next year. Whether they can trade and get anything for him, which isn't likely but you never know, who would have ever thought Titus Young would get claimed off waivers?

Kelly is gone as is Seymour and Briesel simply never fit even with the system he supposedly excelled at.

I've read from multiple places that RM is gonna have to get creative and this window after the season concludes may be the opportunity he needs to do just that.

Devil, the most disturbing thing is how so few are taking up so much space

IDC what anyone says, none of those players are worth the number next to their name

I agree Fresh but that has everything to do with the restructures. Seymour has restructured twice, Palmer restructured twice, Huff restructured twice, Kelly restructured at least twice, and than you have the first round picks without the rookie cap like McClain, McFadden and Bey they have destroyed the cap.

But the good news if you want to say it is that Bey and McFadden are in the last year of their contracts and McClains contract should be voided at least the bonus aspect of it.
