RICHARD THOMPSON:  [Electric [Deluxe 2CD]]
Sounds right up my alley.  I love when Richard straps on his old strat.  His acoustic work is astounding, but there is something, almost ethereal about his electric playing.

LD, I really think you owe it to yourself to check out Richard Thompson.  He is one of my favorite singer-songwriters.  The new album, Electric, is actually a great place to start, but you should also try Rumor & Sigh and Shoot Out The Lights, both great albums.

BOB DYLAN:  [Tempest]

Product Description:

Tempest is Bob Dylan's highly-anticipated 35th studio album and coincides with the 50th anniversary of his 1962 eponymous debut album. Produced by Jack Frost and recorded with the members of Dylan's touring band and Los Lobos' David Hidalgo, Tempest has received worldwide critical acclaim and has been firmly anchored at the top of Amazon's Best Sellers in Music chart since it became available for pre-orders in July 2012.

In its five-star review, Rolling Stone calls Tempest, ''musically varied and full of curveballs....Dylan now stand virtually alone among his 1960s peers.''

Entertainment Weekly gives it a ''Grade: A'' and writes, ''Dylan remains as magical and mysterious as ever.'' Associated Press calls it , ''One of the best discs you ll hear by anyone this year.'' Mojo also gives the album five stars, writing, ''Dylan sets sail on his finest album of this century.''

New Yorker says Tempest is ''as spirited and vigorous an album as he's made.'' The Washington Post writes that Dylan ''has delivered his most compelling release in more than a decade.''

Bob Dylan's four previous studio albums have been universally hailed as among the best of his storied career, achieving new levels of commercial success and critical acclaim for the artist. DECEMBERISTS:  [The King Is Dead]

Product Description:

2011 album from the Portland-based Alt-Rock/Folk band. The King Is Dead is a mostly-acoustic set of concise, Americana-based songs, that marks a deliberate turn towards simplicity after the band's wildly ambitious and acclaimed 2009 song-cycle The Hazards Of Love. Produced once again by Tucker Martine, The King Is Dead features special guest appearances by Americana luminary Gillian Welch and legendary R.E.M. guitarist Peter Buck. The album showcases the ways in which The Decemberists sound just as glorious in simple, stripped-down compositions as they do on the elaborate structures that have defined their work for years. The album was recorded in a converted barn at Pendarvis Farm, an 80-acre estate of lush meadows, forest, and Mt. Hood views outside of Portland.

Track Listing:

1.Don't Carry It All
2.Calamity Song
3.Rise To Me
4.Rox In the Box

Shoot Out The Lights is one of my favorite albums of all time.  It clocks in at just about 35 minutes, but there isn't a throw-away track in the bunch.

Help- The Beatles
Well jonny, we almost had it on at the same time:

"Help!" - The Beatles
This is the version from the The Beatles Love soundtrack, the Cirque De Soleil show. It is a mashup of Beatles tunes produced by Sir George Martin and his son Niles. Being a Beatles purist it didn't sound like something I'd be into, but upon hearing it I think it's absolutely amazing. For example, the way they were able to lay the guitar solo from "Taxman" over the tune for "Drive My Car" so seamlessly is awesome, very creative. That's just one small example. I highly recommend it to any Beatle fan that has not heard it.

"Through The Never(Live)" - Metallica

"Time To Pretend" - MGMT

The lyrics to this song blow my mind:

I'm Feelin rough I'm Feelin raw I'm in the prime of my life.
Let's make some music make some money find some models for wives.
I'll move to Paris, shoot some heroin and fk with the stars.
You man the island and the cocaine and the elegant cars.

This is our decision to live fast and die young.
We've got the vision, now let's have some fun.
Yeah it's overwhelming, but what else can we do?
Get jobs in offices and wake up for the morning commute?

Forget about our mothers and our friends.
We were fated to pretend.

I'll miss the playgrounds and the animals and digging up worms.
I'll miss the comfort of my mother and the weight of the world.
I'll miss my sister, miss my father, miss my dog and my home.
Yeah I'll miss the boredom and the freedom and the time spent alone.

But there is really nothing, nothing we can do.
Love must be forgotten. Life can always start up anew.
The models will have children, we'll get a divorce,
We'll find some more models, Everything must run its course.

We'll choke on our vomit and that will be the end.
We were fated to pretend.

Yeah yeah yeah <!-- end of lyrics -->

I'm tellin' ya buddy, it is so great to be able to pop some headphones on when you're in a situation like that one and march to the beat of your own drum. I held off on getting one for awhile, but I love it. the one I have is 120 G I believe, and as of now I have about 13,000 songs on it. I love having all that variety in a tiny little audio component. the only bad thing is the loss in audiio quality, but then again back in the day my sony walkman sounded like crap but I loved that too!
