Not every aspect, but scientists are making progress.

Not even close.  Why is subjective.  Even if you find the mechanical reason behind red being an attraction, that still doesn't explain why.

Because "why" can be "how". 
That doesn't answer the question.  How can be part of why, but it can't answer why.
