A's Make HUGE MISTAKE

You do nothing but talk crap anytime i use scout.com rankings but your gonna through em out when it suits ya arnt ya.
Really? Find a post where I do. Otherwise, stop making stuff up.

I actually have subscribed to scout since 2010. Not saying they are my favorite or anything, but Melissa Lockhard usually knows what she is talking about and will also get back to you on twitter if you have a question about a certain player. Still doesn't change the fact that you love scout.com, YET GO OUT OF YOUR WAY to try to tell me Stassi is not a top 10 ranked prospect. Makes no sense. Again....very hypocritical.

So you dont remember actually creating a poll to show me that Prospectus and BA where better sources for rankings then scout.com ohh like a year ago? I dont really care enough to look through 1,000's of posts lol.

Also i get my rankings from multiple sources. I love scout.com as there the only one that does an in depth top 50 every year for the A's. This thread has gotten so side tracked that this is my last post in this thread.

I Lied one more

Who said anything about a SS with power? Unless you are insinuating Lowrie is one? In that case I will just laugh.
So 16 HR's in 360 AB's is not power at the SS position?. That was good for 7th last year out of all SS. His SLG was .438 last year good enough for 5th so yes he is a SS with power. Laugh all you want.

Well so far Lowrie is doing his best to prove us all wrong going 6 for 13 with 4 doubles and a HR in his first 4 games while playing some solid D. Maybe Beane did know what he was doing as on the other side Carter is o for 11 with 7 K's. While we all know a Small sample size and really dosnt mean much yet it is nice to see Lowrie's good start. And personally i hope Carter gets it turned around a bit as i always hoped he would break out one of these days.

Remember, we gave up more than just Chris Carter in this deal. The Athletics also traded Max Stassi and Brad Peacock (we get a first hand look at him this evening) in the trade for Jed Lowrie and Fernando Rodriguez. Looks like Peacock had a really nice Spring too...

Long story short: I think we got a decent deal if we return to the playoffs this season with Lowrie a big part of our success and Hiroyuki Nakajima fails to have any major league success. If Nakajima comes off the DL and hits close to .300 with 10 HRs as the starter at SS then this deal returns to looking pointless unless second base turns into a black hole that Lowrie can fill.

Agreed. As I mentioned in another post(not in this thread) though, I LOVE the Nate Freiman pickup (which was somewhat lucky imo). I hated the thought of Moss batting everyday vs. lefties and especially considering our lack of 1B deoth. Freimans numbers were solid in the minors and helps make up for the lack of depth.

Nate Freiman's OBP (.222) is currently lower than his batting average (.250) due to his lack of walks coupled with the sacrifice fly he hit in the last game of the Mariners series.

Just an interesting tidbit that I found a little humorous.

While i also like the Freiman pickup dont know if i agree with sitting Moss vs all LHP. Maybe when we face some tough ones but its not like moss cant hit lefties. Hes OPS+ vs LHP is only 9 points lower then it is vs RHP. I would like to see moss start 140 games at first this year if he continues to rake.

anyone take a look at Chris Carter's last two games against Seattle?

7-11, 3 HR, 5 RBI

Starting to come around after a slow start. Again, this is why sample size matters. It moved his batting average from .115 to .270. Still like what Lowrie's doing, but we'll truly see the winner/loser of this trade over time.
