The problem is, the Cardinals have a full 40 man roster so if they claim Campana off waivers they would have to drop someone from their 40 man roster to make room.  I don't see anyone worth dropping in order to obtain a utility outfielder.  Shane Robinson can pretty much do the same things Campana can do with a little more power and I'd take my chances with keeping Adron Chambers on the 40 man roster.  I wouldn't be surprised if someone grabs Campana (Mets?) but I don't see him as much of an upgrade for the Cardinals.  I'm guessing Campana clears waivers and the Cubs outright him to Iowa.

I think you are right, Og.  If anyone is going to grab him it would be the Mets who are very needy now with their outfield.  I can't even grasp why the Cardinals would have an interest given their current roster and outfielders.

Even if we were in the market for an outfielder, I don't that is the type of team they are looking to build.  Matheny isn't that much of a 'little ball' kind of guy, in my view.  I actually prefer the 'little ball' style, having started following the Cards during the Lou Brock era.  And of course they were wildly successful during the Ozzie Smith/Vince Coleman era as well.

But they have shown in recent years that they can be just as successful with more of power lineup.  Doesn't make much sense to get caught stealing right before Freeze, Yadi, or Craig knocks one out of the yard................
