Vick deal could put Carson Palmer in a pinchFebruary 12, 2013 3:56 pm
He said the "R" word. I will face it when we start doing it and stop doing stupid stuff like mortgaging our future in order to sign 2 crappy DB's, a crappy RG and an average Saftey to a huge deal.

To me the biggest problem with the Raiders last year was in the zone system, the QB MUST sell the QB boot leg on every run to freeze the the DE and weakside LBer. Everyone including my momma kwew that CP was no threat to roll it out or run.
Again in this system these things MUST happen FAST. You almost have to get outside the DE on every bootleg. Fake or real. By the time CP was ready to dump it off, throw it deep or keep it, the DE was in his face and we wern't fooling anyone. The zone system was a bad fit for CP. |

On the 2 crappy DB's we signed last year. Why we signed them.
We wern't or could we afford routt last year. He sucked as even the Chiefs cut him. That left us with zero talant back there. We had no cap room for anyone with any talant or exp. So what to do? Signed the two DB's with the most exp to one year contracts. Yes both comming off injury, and hope they pan out. You have to put someone back there. Who the heck else was signing with us? |

Signed the two DB's with the most exp to one year contracts. Yes both comming off injury, and hope they pan out. You have to put someone back there. If youre rebuilding then you SAVE the money and play DVD and Checkwa, or some other guys who are cheap. If you are trying to "win now" then you move some money around to sign the expierenced guys. Its basic football 101 stuff. Reggie took a shot with the roster he inherited. It didnt work. Now he must decide if he wants to actually start the rebuild or go for it again. If hes gonna rebuild then Carson Palmer should be cut, along with others. |

Actually, basic football 101 at the professional level is you can't put a complete turd out on the field. Trust me, if they thought DVD and Chekwa were any good they would be starting. They didn't and thought they could squeak by with two veteran starters (Bartell and Spencer) who they thought might return to their previous form. Well, both got injured and played worse than expected.
It tells you just how bad Chekwa is that they didn't activate him from the practice squad and would rather have Huff move over to play corner. It tells you how compeletly awful DVD was because he was picked up near the end of the waiver wire to be a gunner on special teams. Why? Because he is fast and couldn't cover a child with a blanket. |

Well Pepper we have been putting turds on the field for a decade now. I don't see DVD and Checkwa making us worse than a 4-12 team. We would have probably sucked just as bad. And we would have been in a better spot cap wise. That my friend is basic football 101
