Randy Moss: First ballot HoFer?

February 13, 2013 12:13 pm
This whole conversation amounts to:
Stats don't lie, he's a clear 1st ballot regardless of his work ethic, etc.
vs.
To be 1st ballot worthy, your character and respect for the game has to match your statistical output.
Uh, no. It's much more than that. For starters, stats do lie. Not in and of themselves. But they lie because they can be manipulated in many different ways by the people who use them.

And the 2nd side is too simplistic as well. I don't think his stats hold up either, and his character has nothing to do with it. Please explain how someone you consider to be a 1st ballot HOFer completely disappeared for 3 years in what should've been his prime years? And please don't say it was his QBs. I've already disproven that ridiculous claim. Or explain how when he did have that HOF QB, he up and disappeared in the playoffs. Your prior answer was woefully inadequate. Suggesting that Belichick would have used his best weapon as a decoy is not only a haphazard guess, but it's completely ludicrous and is grasping for straws to come up with an excuse.

To put a firm line on the 2 sides arguing is asinine. This isn't a political debate between Democrats and Republicans where party lines are clear.
Scuba has an answer for everything, much to society's chagrin.
So I'm supposed to apologize for having arguments to back up my claims? Okay, I apologize... I guess.
