That right there has them at 90 wins.. But I like to play it conservative... So I backed it off to 87...
..........

ill take the under all day, what is the bet?

Figuring Buchholz and Lester are good for another 10+ wins over last year is not remotely unfair...
...........

Buchs career since being handed a spot in the rotation

76
92
173
82
189

I am not convinced he is a big contributor until i see it with some consistency

Lester has gone backwards in wins, innings pitched, era and strikeouts every single year for the past 3 full seasons...so season 4 is an expected improvement?

yes, id say it is pretty "unfair" to state 10 wins of improvement based on these two is a given

John Lackey

............

gone backwards in era, wins, strikeouts, era+ and innings pitched in just about all those categories across the board every year for the past 5 full seasons

now in the 6th he is expected to be a contributing member of this team, maybe he could be

but when asked as to why the Sox are going to improve from a 69 win team to a 87...you give Lackey as one of your 4 answers???

Agreed....I think Snuggs is over estimating how the improvements he is expecting will impact their win total...and there is certainly chance for any of his expectations to blow up.

What I see from this team?

Decent offense, what should be an excellent bullpen, but they are still suspect in the rotation.....to be honest?  They remind me a lot of what Baltimore was last year...but I kept expefting that team to fall of the preverbial cliff, which is why my expectations are .500....

I could see them in the thick of the wild card race, and if they are able to either tap into the minors because of unexpected advancement of guys like Bogaerts or Webster and de la Rosa, or make a trade to bring in a starting pitcher?  They could challenge Snoogs 90 win prediction...but they need a ton to go right for that to happen, so I'll stick with better health and depth a better bullpen and better rotation depth getting them to about 80-83 wins...
