How long do Superbowl "Bragging Rights" last?February 18, 2013 5:49 pm
Depends. I mean the media loves to talk about how the Patriots are a team full of champions, I count three players with Super Bowl rings, Brady, Wilfork (rookie) and Branch depending on what day of the week it is.
Similarly, a lot of the Super Bowl Champion Steelers are gone/about to be gone so the bragging rights for that one are pretty much gone. I'd give it a year or two. |

Oh yeah, the Patriots are another example. The media LOVES Brady and Bellicheat. And for what? Off of 3 SB's, the last of which came in 2005. Living off glory that hapened nearly a decade ago under suspicous cirumstances.......I'd say their "SB Champs" card is still kicking strong. It's pretty outrageous

I feel like it's something you can never take away, and fans should be proud of it. But if they are flaunting a title from the past that isn't relevant to a matchup of the moment, it's baseless.
You can bring it up if the conversation is about organizational legacy, but other than that, I don't see much use for it. |

For some teams, the bragging never ends. The Jets and the Bears are still celebrating their lone Super Bowl wins as if they happened recently. Meanwhile, for the Steelers, Patriots, Packers, and Giants, there is big trouble if they go a couple years without getting to the Super Bowl. Interesting how some franchises do not accept less than being a Super Bowl contender, while others are very happy just being in the playoff hunt come week 15.

Honestly i don't know how Bears and Jets fans put up with it. I guess it's just being accustomed to great QB play, but holy crap even if he wasn't a bear, cutler is just down right awful. It really makes me wonder how bears fan not only put up with him but defend him. All i know is i would not stand for that if that was my qb. It is nice knowing that if the bears actually had a qb, they'd be contenders. Good thing Cutler will keep that from ever happening.

Depends on a lot of things... mostly the mental capacity of the particular fan.
Mentally impotent and insecure people will brag about a SB until the day they die. These type of people seem to think that their favorite team winning a SB makes them superior or smarter than other people. |

mostly the mental capacity of the particular fan.So that explains why Steeler fans continuously are clammering the 6 thing. What's Trannytrolls excuse....it doesn't count as a fan. |

It depends.
For a single Super Bowl victory, I say the bragging rights last through the following season up until that team is out of the playoffs. So, the Ravens fans can gloat about their Super Bowl last season up until they are either eliminated from playoff contention next season or they lose in the playoffs. Should they repeat, see below. For 2 Super Bowl wins within 3 seasons, I say the bragging rights last at least 5 years. Add a year for repeat winners. For 3 Super bowl wins within 5 seasons, I say the bragging rights last for 10 years. Add a year for repeat winners. For 4 Super Bowl wins within a decade, I say bragging rights last for 20 years. |

I think the question is how long will it take for Squeeler fans to shut up about championships they won 40 years ago?

I LOVE how it pisses Ravens fans off that we have 6 Lombardi's - and moreover we're the ONLY franchise that does. That's why they want to throw out those 4 we won in the 70's, because that would make us even. Sorry guys.....we still have 4 more than you. Deal with it.

I LOVE how it pisses Ravensfans off that we have 6 Lombardi's - and moreover we're the ONLY franchise that does. And your team has SUCKED for the last 2 years now and it doesn't look any better going into this year.....and that pisses you off...but then again, you are not really a Steelers fan as you seem to NEVER find anything to post about on their threads...by the way...when WAS the last time you posted on a Steelers thread? That's why they want to throw out those 4 we won in the 70's, because that would make us even.Aren't you the one last night who was clammering about how the Patriots should lose 3 titles because by your own words they....CHEATED. The Steelers titles were won as players were using PEDs and Illegal Drugs...so by your own admission the Patriots should lose theirs...so why shouldn't your team....CHEATING is CHEATING. Hypocrit. Sorry guys Yes...you are....sorry that is.....as to GUY......that is still up in the air. |

I'm personally very happy that the Squealers finally had enough sense, after 36 years of existence, to finally hire a Baltimore assistant that could show you how to establish a winning tradition like Baltimore has historically had in football. I only hope that the Ravens are able to win 6 NFL Championships in our first 76 years of existence |

Not sure what kind of crack you're on Nightmare but it's not very good. In the late 1960's Dan Rooney took over the franchise from his father, Art. Result - 4 Lombardi's.
And unlike you, we didn't have to steal a team from another city, which also gave you a jump start. It's not like you were an expansion franchise. |

And unlike you, we didn't have to steal a team from another city,No..you just had to merge in 2 consecutive years with other teams to just field a team. so don't go and act like the Steelers were built from the ground up with hard work. Had it not been for mergers you'd be cheering for the Wyoming Greesy Spoon Maffle Makers. and what is this WE crap......trust me...YOU were not involved....unless the Steeler's halftime show was a juggler at the 50 yard line. |

and what is this WE crap......trust me...YOU were not involved...Jesus H. Mother effing christ. MidnightRayne, (not one of my favorite people, she will attest to that) gets WAAY too much crap for this one thing. I disagree with her on almost everything, but using WE when talking about your team doesn't mean that you are implying that you are ON the team, or PART OF the team. It's just shorthand that fans use so they don't have to continue to type "The Steelers" or The Filthy Ratbirds" when talking about their team. Biggest pet peeve. Only someone looking to pick a fight bothers to notate when people use it and call them out... Weakest. Sauce. Ever. |

Not sure what kind of crack you're on Nightmare but it's not very good. In the late 1960's Dan Rooney took over the franchise from his father, Art. Result - 4 Lombardi's. But it had nothing to do with Dan Rooney, unless you want to give him credit for hiring a Baltimore assistant to teach you how to build a winning organization because, let's face it; until Chuck Noll arrived from Baltimore, you hadn't had a winning season. And lo and behold, 4 years after Noll arrives, he's built a winner. And keep in mind that the "stolen" franchise was 4-12 their first year in Baltimore, so they may as well have been an expansion franchise. Sure glad it didn't take Ozzie 36 years to get a championship. |

Result - 4 Lombardi's.Other results you failed to remember..... 1. Steroid abuse 2. Cocaine addiction 3. Repeated inner squabbles 4. Cowher admitting he did like Bellichek did and stole teams signals 5. 17 arrests over the last decade |
