I wouldnt be either. Whereven he went, if he did not come out there then he was not comfortable enough to do that. That does not mean anyone did anything wrong. I would feel, well good for him, now get back to football.

Where's the "wouldn't care" option?Amen Baron, Unless there is something about being gay that causes you to miss tackles or drop balls, I could care less. In fact, if the reverse were true and being gay caused you to make more tackles and catch more balls I would hope my school would go out of its way to actively recruit gay players. Too bad it isn't true, would make recruiting easier, we could put it on the checklist right next to 40 time. |

I would've selected wouldn't care either. Always said their choice, their lifestyle, good for the student-athlete, makes nada difference to me. As for the comment about the southeast.... boy are you mistaken. There is some great stuff down here, but oh well we don't care for you to see.

Where's the "wouldn't care" option?Isn't that a little like saying a dodger fan shouldn't have cared about Jackie Robinson? I get that maybe it doesn't make a difference to you personally but there would be no way to escape it from a cultural perspective. Historically speaking in terms of civil rights movements indifference is not far from opposition. |

Lots of types of $exual deviance. Being gay is one of the many forms of deviance. I wouldn't care if a gay player played at my school. Also I was taught right from wrong at a very young age and try to enstill the same values to my children. (I tend to view people with deviance just as lost or confused, I just don't really care how they lost their way or want the details - I work with a few gay people and we get along fine). Dustin, are you really comparing the struggles that black people faced in the 40's & 50's w/ a few NFL players that have said they would be uncomfortable with a gay teammate in the locker room? (Kind of a stretch)

Lots of types of $exual deviance. Being gay is one of the many forms of deviance.No. I mean i'd expand on that but no. You're wrong. And no I don't care what the bible has to say on the subject. Dustin, are you really comparing the struggles that black people faced in the 40's & 50's w/ a few NFL players that have said they would be uncomfortable with a gay teammate in the locker room? (Kind of a stretch) Has nothing to do with NFL players being uncomfortable. This has to do with a group of people who are not viewed as equals under the law. For that to change it requires a cultural shift and one that we are (Thank God) in the midst of. Sports is just another area where there are barrier to be broken. As far as comparing the struggles of a group of people with another group of people, i'm not going to get into all that but if you look at what this fictional person would face I'd think there are parallels to be drawn with Jackie Robinson. That's all I meant by that statement. |

Dustin, there are many types of deviance. Gayness is one of many forms - no need for you respond with "No" and "You're wrong" - sounds like you might be in denial there. Also, being gay is a lifestyle choice. Being black was not a lifestyle choice for Jackie Robinson.

Also, being gay is a lifestyle choice. Being black was not a lifestyle choice for Jackie Robinson. I'm not even sure where to start. First of all something can only be deviant if most people believe it's not morally correct (check the definition). You don't get to make that determination although I'm sure you'll still try. Judging by this thread and poll I'd say most people don't have an issue with it. How's it feel to know you're on the wrong side of history? If you're wrong, you're wrong. I'll check my thesaurus for another way to tell you that but you'd still just be wrong. Why would I be in denial? I don't view it as being bad like you do but I knew you'd go there because in your world you just really got me didn't you. Oh Art, you're so clever. |

Dustin, I think you misunderstood my post. It was obvious that you were gay (wasn't trying to say that you were in denial on that) and you have my permission to live whatever lifestyle you want. I just thought you were in denial about it being a form of deviance.

Chicago - I never heard of anyone walking into a doctors office and be checked for "gay". I also have never heard of an infant being tested for "gay". It's a lifestyle choice and not a medical condition. I never heard of doctors diagnosing it with a blood test, DNA test, gene testing, or whatever. If you don't believe me, go to your doctor and tell him that you want to be checked for "gay". Let me know what he tells you. (If he puts on a rubber glove and tells you to bend over, you might want to start running)

Chicago - I never heard of anyone walking into a doctors office and be checked for "gay". I doubt anyone who happens to be gay needs a doctor to confirm it for them. That doesn't make it a lifestyle choice... I also have never heard of an infant being tested for "gay"..... It's a lifestyle choice and not a medical condition. I never heard of doctors diagnosing it with a blood test, DNA test, gene testing, or whatever. No one claims sexual preference is a medical condition. People have many traits that aren't choices and also aren't medical conditions. If you don't believe me, go to your doctor and tell him that you want to be checked for "gay". Let me know what he tells you. (If he puts on a rubber glove and tells you to bend over, you might want to start running)Again, no one needs a doctor to tell them who they are attracted to. But most doctors would be happy to tell you it's not a choice... Clearly your mind is made up and you don't care to change it. But it's always mindblowing to me how people who share your view act so without a doubt sure to the point of stating your opinion as fact, even though research and common sense suggests you are wrong. |

Sure its a choice. They chose to fall in love with another man's hairy a$$. Sick sumabishes. It also has for years been known as a mental disorder. Just because you clowns nowadays have been brainwashed by liberal profs doesn't mean anything other than that you've been brainwashed.
But like someone said...if God thought it was bad he would probably send down a plague to wipe them out....like maybe a immune deficiency or something like that... Oh wait...nevermind ! |

Also, being gay is a lifestyle choice. Really, artisatool? Have you studied biology? Your comment suggests that you haven't. Studies have shown that at any point in time about 10% of a population is homosexual. It's a biological fact having nothing to do with choices. So, just as people cannot choose the color of their skin, they cannot choose the nature of their sexuality. It's a biological imperative, which is what makes it so difficult. Besides, just as a matter of common sense, who would actually choose to be homosexual and be so despised? Your claim just doesn't make sense. |

Depends. Lets say it was Terrell Owens or Pacman Jones for example. I would be ashamed and probably use politically incorrect slurs that start with a F. If its Victor Cruz or Russell Wilson its not a big deal or any of my business. If it's Eddie George or Tiki Barber i win $100 from my buddy.

There's just as much white trash in the Western US as there is in the Southeast. Sure they are different cultures, but they are still trashy. Not to say everyone in either place is trashy, plenty of great people in SEC land. Now if you all really want to find all the gays, look no further than Austin, Texas.
