Rate My Draft...February 21, 2013 6:36 am
Two quick observations.
First, I don't like the TE in the 2nd. If a rush OLB isn't there, I honestly can't see the Chargers spending a high draft pick, or any pick for that matter in this year's draft on a TE. Not saying we couldn't use a TE, especially one who can block, but we should be able to find one of those anywhere from a UDFA, to the waiver wire at the end of training camp. If we do select a receiver high in the draft, then it should be a WR where we are dangerously thin right now, as well as in the immediate future as this is probably Floyd's last year. Love the Aboushi selection in the 3rd, although I don't see him falling that far in the actual draft, though you never know. That pick, combined with your Fisher pick would settle the OT position for years...then again, I don't see Fisher falling to us either. I actually rank him higher than Joeckel, and I believe many scouts will come to the same conclusion after the combine. In fact, I think he's considerably better than Joeckel. |

Yeah, the picks I was most curious to get thoughts on were the 2nd and 4th Round picks. I knew those would have potential controversy.
Nailing Fisher and Aboushi were homeruns. Also, I think Bailey was a 3rd Round grade who I got in the 5th. With these guys, we now have bona fide starters, and depth (Clary would actually be coming off the bench). I love the 2nd Round pick, but knew some would hate it. Kelce is my #2 rated TE. Great blocker and receiver. I see what some other teams are able to do running the 2-TE sets (pats)... Being able to do that with Kelce and a healthy Gates for a couple years would be great for Rivers. If Gates leaves in a couple or few years, we now have a young experienced stud at TE. Am interested to get yalls thoughts on Goodwin??? |
