Santa Claus comes from Sinterklass which is Dutch for Saint Nicholas a man that was born and died 1600+ years ago. The name has been bastardized over the last century or so for a story parents tell their kids during the Christmas season. That doesn't change who it is. Celebration for Santa Claus is December Sixth. Celebration of a Bishop who was known as a gift giver.
