D-Line, O-Line or Other

Kiff part of my point is they can address some of the defensive woes in free agency where that isnt an option for the offense. Especially when you consider the cap and what players may be wanting, etc.

Whats the difference in all honesty with the mux they have on defense in using the draft to address the defense and have a total work in progress with them or bringing in former highly coveted/drafted players who are free agents?

Glenn Dorsey 5th overall pick 08
Sedrick Ellis 8th overall pick 08
Keith Rivers 9th overall pick 08
Ron Brace 37th overall pick 09
Ernie Sims 8th overall pick 06

Nearly every position that they could be interested in with the exception of cornerback on the defensive side of the ball you can find former top draft choices that flamed out elsewhere and what makes anybody think with the current situation on the defensive side of the ball for the Raiders that wont be the case a few years down the road?

They have to start hitting on their drafts and I dont believe for one second drafting for need on a weak side of the ball which is the defense is the way to correct it. How many draft picks where invested on the defensive side of the ball with the offense rolling to start the 2000's and just stop and think about how different things would be had they perhaps invested on the offensive side of the ball and kept that ball rolling instead?

I really dont care who was pulling the trigger on the drafts either. Sebastian Janikowski is 00, Derrick Gibson in 01, Phillip Buchanon and Napolean Harris in 02, Nnamdi Asomugha and Tyler Brayton in 03, Fabian Washington 05, Michael Huff 06, Rolando McClain 10. 9 of the 14 first round choices they have made since 00 have been on defense, with one being a special teams player in Sebas. If you throw in the traded first rounders Moss, Palmer and Seymour than the ratio is 10 of 16 for the defense and nothing has changed. Defense hasn't been a force. Just because they are changing the way the defense is structured and whatever else doesnt mean its gonna work.

The offense doesnt need nearly the re tooling the defense needs and they need a crutch and or a way to compete. I just dont want to see anymore wasted picks. I dont see Warmack as a wasted pick in any, way, shape or form. The film looks right on him, the combine he impressed, he can be plugged right into the starting LG spot and have a supporting cast that allows him to succeed. They draft anything else and that guy very well could be on an island all by himself like some of these other guys.

i hears ya devil. im all for us taking a flier on a sed ellis and/or Glenn Dorsey. too be quite frank tho, im narrowed down to 2 guys at this point. DT floyd or OG warmack. i think 1 of those guys immediately makes that line exponentially better right off the bat. there seem to be alotta red flags popping up on some of the guys i wanted (star's health, moore's bench) and i just don't think we are in position to screw around with this pick. take floyd or warmack and call it a day.
