Mikey, where have you heard Helton and France say the words "Win on Sunday, Sell on Monday"? You posted links to some articles where the writers tried using the term, but there were no direct quotes from either of them saying that. They did make comments about the cars looking more like the cars in the showroom, but never said the win on Sunday thing,. |

Mikey, do you know how a marketing department works??? It doesn't matter what anyone says, it matters what is in writing on the books and in the ads. Just because a CEO says something, doesn't make it the official stance of the company. That's like saying since the CEO of Chick-fil-a opposes gay marriage, the whole company does, which isn't true. No where in the NASCAR marketing plan does it say "win on sunday, sell on monday."

The phrase Win on Sunday, Sell on Monday is just that, a phrase. Same as Budweiser calling there beer The King of Beers, Miller saying It's Miller Time, or Cheetos saying The Cheese That Goes Crunch. Win on Sunday, Sell on Monday has always just been a phrase. Another way to look at it, there are three brands being marketed in Nascar - Ford, Chevy, and Toyota. On any given monday you can go out and purchase any one of these brands, which ever you choose. The branding to a specific model went out the window a long, long time ago. The car of tomorrow is a prime example of model specifics. The only thing that resembled the original vehicle was the sticker package and the manufacturers logo on the front of the car.

It doesn't matter what anyone says, it matters what is in writing on the books and in the ads.Bingo. That was AZMO's point on the other thread that you don't see NASCAR having commercials that say "Win on Sunday, Sell on Monday" or an ad on NASCAR.com using that wording. |

Yea, you go ahead and beleive that all you want. There are a lot of lies that you are gullible and swallowing.
Now to answer Section: Go back and look at the videos when NASCAR reveled the Gen 6 especially the SS and you will see Helton saying that I do believe. BTW I didn't start this thread, someone else did. You hyprocrites cry because you say the sport is losing tradition, yet you drink the NASCAR kool-aide when it comes to Chevy. Love how you agree, the rules suddendly don't apply. That's ok, I know what the history of the sport is, and it's a shame to see Mike Helton and company disregard it, and what is even worse is the fans who just swallow it up. |

I don't give a rip about the slogan WoS,SoM. The basis of my opinion is that this is supposed to be STOCK car racing.
I have disliked the cars for several years because there is no brand identity. Gen6 is a move in the right direction. NACAR has spent all their marketing time on the drivers, and for the squeaky clean gents, that works fine but see what happens when you have the less than perfect driver in the spotlight? This essentially is a TEAM sport and they need to get back to that perspective, and not focus so much on the lead man of the group. Manufacturer+Owner+Crew+Driver+Sponsors = Team |

Yep folks, it's been one of those days. Sorry about the previous post. This day has been the proverbial day from Hell. No worries mikey, it's all good. Just for the record, I don't have a problem with the SS, and I would feel the same way if Ford or Toyota was using a 2014 model this year. My opinion has nothing to do with it being a Chevy. |

Why don't we just take the label off the cars and allow each manufacture to field a car no matter what it looks like?
See that's my problem, NASCAR is heading down the path of Indy Cars, Formula 1 etc. when they allow a concept car on the track. I'll get over it, I had the same problem with the 4 door Taurus when it came to being because there wasn't a 2 door version. However, Mark my word, when GM announces around July the SS won't hit the market until 2015 if at all do to the economy I'll be blasting NASCAR and all those that supported the SS to the hilt.

I'll get over it, I had the same problem with the 4 door Taurus when it came to being because there wasn't a 2 door version. Toyota doesn't sell an 8 cylinder. So all three manufacturers are putting out cars you can't get in a showroom. |

Mikey, I just watched a video of Helton introducing the car in Daytona. He says the Gen6 car will look more like what you will see in a showroom, but never says Win on Sunday, Sell on Monday.

I havn't been around for a while and seeing how Mikey has folks with differing opinions on this here post, I figure it's as good a place as any to add my 2 cents.
While the 'slogan' may have been created with the car manufacturer(s) in mind and as we all know that's not reasonable to actually purchase a STOCKcar in a dealer on Monday, at least the version sold in the dealearship does bear a closer resemblence to what's seen on the track as opposed to recent years. NASCAR however, is in the 'commercial' business so the slogan lends itself just as much to the sponsors that are paying for a 4-6 hour commercial every week. So while there may not be a whole lot of Chevy SS's and Toyota Camry's driving off the lots in droves on Monday, NASCAR has to do what it can to help Lowes empty it's shelves on Monday, drink more Budweiser on Monday, switch to Mobil1 on Monday, grabs some M & M's out of the snack machine on Monday, or switch to State Farm or Farmers for insurance on Monday. Win on Sunday, Sell on Monday - is so much larger then just the name plate of the car that wins the race. |

I bought 46 web domains from Go Daddy on Monday morning.

Excellent point Hardtobeat - The brand Nascar is ever evolving trying to keep up with the times.

I think the manufacturers are trying to promote the whole brand rather than the specific cars on the track. Jimmie may have won Sunday, but Chevy wants you to just come in and buy something. An SUV, pickup, a Malibu, just idnetify with the brand. The Gen 6 cars help out by looking more like a showroom model. Promotes the brand much better.
If we everyone really wanted to see more sell on Monday, NASCAR would have a SUV division. Nothing like being in an Explorer being driven by an ex driver going around the track at 115 MPH. Was fun to do that several years ago at an event at Kansas. Would be an interesting concept. |
