Agreed.  Frey is an assLaughing  I was really disappointed to hear how insecure Meisner was about Take It To The Limit, and how much pressue he was put under to perform it every night.  It's such a hard song to sing.  If he wasn't on the top of his game, it could end up being embarrassing for him.  I know how much the fans wanted to hear it, but I think I rather not hear it than hear one of my favorite songs done poorly becuase the vocals aren't up to snuff.  I've seen The Who a couple of times when Roger just couldn't do "Love Reign O'er Me.  It was sad and I felt bad for him.

I guess when I heard Leadon take responsibility for pouring the beer on Frey and heard Felder take responsibility, I just expected Frey would also take some responsibility.

The whole "Take It To The Limit" thing was really harsh, imo. Frey was really hard on Meisner. It's not like they had no other songs to play. I thought that was weak.
Funny thing is now the current incarnation of the Eagles plays that song(taken down considerably in key, I might add)and Frey sings lead on it-and it is a VERY average song played that way. Nothing distinguishable about it anymore. The Meisner vocal made that tune as far as I'm concerned.

2 songs on the first album (Take The Devil & Tryin') were written by Meisner, and another song (Earlybird) was co-written by Meisner/Leadon. On Desperado, Leadon was the only Eagles member to have a solo writing credit, and he wrote 2 of the songs (Twenty-One & Bitter Creek).  Both Meisner and Leadon had other solo writing credits on following albums, Leadon left before Hotel California, Meisner left after that record.  But if you look at the writing credits of the first 4 Eagles records, Bernie Leadon was more involved than Glen Frey was, and I can guarantee you that Leadon was easily the most entertaining of the group on stage.  Bernie would play pedal-steel, banjo and mandolin or dobro sometimes on the same song live, as well as all the lead-guitar parts worth mentioning.  Leadon wrote "My Man" for his friend Gram Parsons, and it was included on the "on The Border" album.  Meisner was included in the Poco original reunion (he was a founding member of that group as well), and has a few decent solo records after he left the Eagles.

WOW. I honestly had no idea the history-didn't know Meisner was a foun ding member of Poco either. did he leave to be in the Eagles? And was he replaced by Timothy B. Schmidt? Crazy how those guys' careers have run parallel. thanks for that brief history-and I agree 100%, the current Eagles should be treating the former Eagles with more respect.

I'm out-have good one buddy.

"Can't wait for Dawes new record in April. I just heard they are going on tour supporting Dylan this Spring."

I heard this as well today, ld.  Quite the gig.

Seawall - Son Volt

By the way, 20 straight with at least a point to open the season for the Blackhawks.  Pretty impressive, but I'd rather they end the season this way.
The Cup celebration of 2010 was ridiculous...we need another.  Long way to go, but I'm enjoying the ride right now.

Comes A Time (Live)- The Grateful Dead

One of my all-time favorite dead songs, or any song, for that matter.  It's one of the slow, Jerry Ballads that usually fit in after the drums/space segment late during the second set.  It's one of the few songs that I never got to see the band perform when Jerry alive.  I did see it last year with Furthur, though.
