Why KC won't be successful with Alex Smith

I'm not buying him with any coach outside of Harbaugh

Why? Look at the other coaches the 49er had while Smith was there, Mike Nolan, and Mike Singletary. Maybe it just took an offensive minded coach for him to have some success.

Or it took a coach who protected him by letting him make the worlds easiest throws and mostly ran the ball with a top 3 defense. When KC's defense becomes top 3, we'll talk. Until then, I say Alex Smith fails to get them to the playoffs, much less become a competitor.

Plus I love your reasoning. You say "maybe it took an offensive coach". I say maybe 6 bad years compared to 1 1/2 good ones says something else all on its own.
