And lets not forget BC beat Clemson. While that may not be big news since neither team is getting in the tournament without winning the ACC title, according the Jerry Palm Reader this was what needed to happen for MD to improve its RPI on Tuesday. I like the tool alot. You can go there any day and pick any team and he tells you what needs to happen that day in order for that team to improve its RPI. We were 70 today. Lets see what we are Wednesday morning. O f course we all know what needs to happen that night to make a dent.

I also have the ESPN Insider edition, so Lunardi updates stuff daily..as of late Tues, as a result of games mentioned, we have moved UP to the "1st four out" group in his bracket so now both analysts have us there, very good). Im also curious to see what our RPI moved to. A win tomorrow and I'd have to say (GULP) that we're gonna be projected as in.
I hope that didn't jinx anything. Line on the game = pick em, over/under @145 |

Our RPI actually dropped to 71 this morning.
Line on the game tonight makes me hopeful. If Carolina was able to get to College Park, there should be no problem with getting the game in as the roads are clear, we only have a dusting of snow on the ground (here in Towson) and it's currently only raining/sleeting. The weather "experts" keep saying it's going to get worse and snow is going to accumulate, but I've been up since 6:30 and I haven't seen any significant change since then. Keeping my fingers crossed. Bottom line is the Terps are still in a position to grab an invite and just need to take care of their own business. Beat UNC and win at least one in the ACC tourney and I believe they'll have their ticket punched. LET'S GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, MARYLAND! |

I dont think we are going to see a flake of snow here. The forcastr has gone from a foot to now it is down to 2-4 inches total and we have yet to see even slush. On the north west side of town they got some and they are still being predicted 3-7 inches. I think you are going to be fine in Towson and College Park. Have fun! I hope i can stay awake that late. Worked until midnight last night and then back in at 5:30. I am too old for this crap. I used to be able to do that and in between close a bar or two and get laid befoe heading back to work fresh as a daisy. Not now. Now I need 8 hours sleep an i will take 10 if I can get it! And lasting at the bar past happy hour is a special occasion. LOL. Do they still make Geritol? LOL

I understand that "old" talk Skins, but at least we can recall the entire MD glory days back to Lefty, Lucas, McMillan, Howard, OBrien, Bias, etc, plus the infamous Soviet 72' Olympic game where Terps had a guy or two on that team. Wow what I could get away with bar-hopping after work in my early 20's...would kill me within a week right now lol.
Ok, line on the game is NC by 1, O/U still @145. Unfortunately no red rag today it can't work 2 games in a row...oh Mac/Skins are both of you at the game today? If Skins is absent and no red rag, it could be a bad loss! Naw seriously I expect a close one... About RPI, the bubble is so weak this year somebody might just get in around a 70. |

Really strange, but at least in Weds night Lunardi's update, we're still mentioned, but slipped to the "last four out" category. Still alive with a win at VA. Wow what a crud bubble eh. Here's what Lunardi said:
As soon as Maryland fell to UNC at home Wednesday, the pronouncements started coming far and wide (OK, maybe just on Twitter): Maryland's done! They're going to the NIT! Loud noises! I wouldn't discount them so fast. Sure, the Terps' profile isn't great and they were already on the wrong side of the bubble before Wednesday's loss. But I'm not sure how much a loss to UNC hurts you at this point, and the bubble doesn't really operate on opportunity cost. Is Maryland really in worse shape now? Either way, the Terps weren't in a great spot before the night started, and now they almost certainly need to win at Virginia this weekend in what could end up being a do-or-die bubble showdown. It's a race to the finish |

For all of us clinging to hope (including myself ahhhh!), what IYO do we need to get in. IMO, win @VA and reach the ACC title game without necessariy winning it. Our RPI took a dump down to 86, it's very possible we need to win the whole thing. I've said for awhile that NIT might be better for this team right now, rather than sneak into the big one and lose bad in the 1st round.
If VA falls @ FL ST today, then lose to us, it's possible we could at least pass them, but some other bubble teams stepped up yesterday, including Villanova (looks like they're in) |

I'm done clinging, terpo. The bubble popped last night, imo. Palm agrees, as he no longer has us listed in any of his categories. It's a well-deserved omission; the Terps have had more than their share of chances to solidify a place in the field and have failed to secure it almost every single time.
I know MD had a couple of runs to keep it close at times, but in person, it was SO obvious how much more talented/athletic a team UNC is. If they continue to shoot the 3 with such proficiency, the Heels are going to be a very dangerous team in the tourney. On a positive note for the Terps, I really liked Layman's aggressiveness and hustle last night. |

NOTHING IS OVER!...NOTHING!!
Ok enough of the rambo quotes lol. Even a win vs VA won't do good there's no way of getting to that acc championship game having to play that 1st round, plus when was the last time we won back to back games? I think barring a loss to VA and a 1st round acc loss, we should get a pretty decent seed in the NIT? |

The bubble most certaingly popped lost night. I agree that they have given themselves and everyone else enough key chances to put themselves in. Now, if they had the GT and BC games as "W's", instead of "L's", I think we could be still speculating. maybe even if you keep either the GT or BC loss with a FL State win, it's a whole different ball of wax. You know what, this team wouldn't be any different with those wins, except maybe still sitting at the last 4 out. I've watched a lot of Bball this year, and the Terps look about right in thet category.

I'll be the last bastion of hope...VA lost again today, Kentucky lost to some scrub team, UMass lost. If we beat VA on Sunday, it could give us the slimest shot heading into the acc tourney, not to mention probably knocking them out too. It ain't over wey!

As of Friday 3/8, Lunardi still has us in the discussion, as a last 4 out group. Nothing is over. VA fell from being outright in, to the last 4 in category. I still think their little run is over. That is all wey.
