I think with a signing bonus and guarantees, he'll do better by signing elsewhere, personally. He's not the first player I've heard of this type of snafu happening, but I think it may have been the most crucial mistake like this that I've heard of.

The only way Freeney gets $6 million/year is if it is through incentives. I think Elvis' deal was closer to $5 million/year plus incentives that could reach $7 million + a year. Freeney is probably looking at a 2 year $9 million deal with incentives that can get it up to $12 million.
