The Opening Day Debacle

Yeah I'll need additional explanation on the jewish holiday. The Lions and 49ers played last year on the first day of Rosh Hashanah. Why didn't that bother anyone? There is no reason they can't play on Wednesday night.

Not sure if they got complaints or not.  I haven't really heard of any.  If they want to start observing it though I won't knock them for not playing on it this year, until they play on it in another year.

I honestly think they should just schedule both games.  The Ravens fans will already be down there tailgating, so parking will be the O's game fans' problem.

Just got the alert that the Ravens will open the season on the road.  God forbid Baltimore gets to ever celebrate it's football championships by being honored with the opening game.

How fitting is it that the Ravens won't open the season at home.  The previous superbowl champion that did NOT open the season at home was.........the Baltimore Ravens in 2001.  To be fair, I feel like that was more 911 related than anything but I don't fully remember the reason.

In 2001, the Monday Night Football opener that was given to the Champs, and the Ravens got snubbed then too.  They gave it to the Giants and made an excuse about ratings.

Although 9/11 was that Tuesday, it had nothing to do with the Ravens getting jilted.

Of course back then it was an unwritten "tradition" to usually give the first Monday Night game of the season (instead of the season opener) to the reigning SB Champs. The Ravens were not given this honor, but played at 1pm on Sunday the 9th at home like it was just any other game.

For whatever reason the Giants got the honor of playing the first Monday night game of the season on September 10th.

At least the two previous years, the reigning SB champ played the first Monday night game of the season (Broncos and Rams, respectively). The two years following the Ravens SB the two reigning SB champs played the first Monday night game of the following season (Patriots and Buccaneers, respectively).

Strange indeed.........
