Orioles' Jason Hammel has no-hit bid broken up in 8th

Baltimore right-hander Jason Hammel's no-hit bid was broken up by Twins designated hitter Justin Morneau, who led off the eighth with a double to right. He then had his shutout doused with a double by Josh Willingham.

Hammel had faced the minumum number of batters -- despite two walks -- through seven innings. He finished the outing by going eight innings, allowing two hits, a run, three walks and five strikeouts. Jim Johnson worked a perfect ninth to give Baltimore a 3-1 victory and give Hammel the victory in his Baltimore debut.

Hammel, 29, is in his first year with the Orioles after pitching the last three seasons in Colorado. The Orioles acquired Hammel and Matt Lindstrom in the off-season trade that sent Jeremy Guthrie to Colorado.

Guthrie made his Colorado debut on Friday, picking up the win over the Astros in Houston. Lindstrom made his Orioles debut on Friday, pitching an inning of scoreless relief in a victory over the Twins.
