On Sunday, Stephen Strasburg didn't pick up the win, but he held the Cardinals to two hits over six scoreless innings. He also nudged closer to his innings limit. Let's take it to the big board ...

Strasburg-160

So how many more innings will Strasburg be permitted to throw this season? According to Holden Kushner of 106.7 The Fan in D.C., just two-starts' worth ...

As you can see, that's straight from manager Davey Johnson: two starts remain.

So, barring back-to-back disaster starts, Strasburg will almost certainly reach qualifying status (i.e., 162.0 IP or more) and 200 strikeouts.

The big question, though, will be this: will the Nationals, given that Straburg will end the regular season with roughly three weeks of rest, put him on the postseason roster (assuming they get there)? Can they possibly justify sitting one of the best single-game pitchers in baseball in a short series?

More to come, to say the least.
