Bryce Harper's 'Expos' card
Bryce Harper and his Nationals begin what they hope is an 11-win march through the postseason on Sunday against the Cardinals. As such, this provides and opportunity to pay tribute to the complicated origins of the Nationals. Time was when they were the Montreal Expos (1969-2004). If not for the utterly negligent stewardship of Jeffrey Loria (he knows no other way), they'd still be the Montreal Expos.
There's no doubt D.C. deserves a team and is a more-than-worthy MLB market. That doesn't change the fact that Montreal, with malice aforethought, got screwed. So this one, 1971 Topps-style and courtesy of Condition Sensitive, is for you, fans of the late, great Expos ...
