At Jonny Gomes' request, A's to give one playoff share to charity

On Monday, Major League Baseball announced the amount of the postseason shares to be given to the players on each team that made the playoffs this season.
The share for Oakland was $34,325.16. As a group, the A's decided to give one of their 51 full shares to charity, at the request of a now-former player, outfielder Jonny Gomes:

Major League Baseball playoff shares for the players have been divided among the 10 teams that made the playoffs, and it was a record total. The players' pool was $65.36 million, the highest total ever.
The players' pool is 50 percent of the gate receipts from the two wild-card games, 60 percent from the first three games of the divisional round and 60 percent from the first four games of the LCS and World Series rounds. The Giants had the highest share in history, getting $377,003 per player.
