For the past month-plus, reports indicated the Cardinals were going to add Bengie Molina to their ballclub as the assistant hitting coach. Monday, the Cardinals announced the move as official.

Obviously, adding an assistant hitting coach isn't earth-shattering news, but this is a bit special because Molina will be coaching his younger brother, Yadier.

"It's going to be awesome. I can't wait," Yadier Molina said to MLB.com last week. "Bengie is a great guy to have on your side. It's going to be awesome. He knows about hitting, too. He's going to be a good help for our team."

Molina will be the assistant to new hitting coach John Mabry, who took over for now-Dodgers hitting coach Mark McGwire.

The middle Molina brother, Jose, is set to be the Rays' catcher this season.
