2013 season will not be Jim Leyland's last
In case you were worried about Jim Leyland's possible retirement following the 2013 season, know that you may put those fears to rest. Here's what Leyland had to say Friday morning (Detroit News):
"I'm not retiring. Whether we win or we don't win. Now, they (owner Mike Ilitch and general manager Dave Dombrowski) might have a different thought, but it won't be mine. I feel good, I like what I do, I have no intention of retiring. ...
"I don't plan on retiring anytime soon. I don't know about years, but I know I'm not ready to go home. I love what I do."
As the News notes, Leyland's reference to "[w]hether we win or we don't win" means he's going to be back in Detroit regardless of whether his Tigers take the next step and claim both belt and title.
